Remember cutscenes?
I certainly do and I would love to see them back. These cutscenes I am referring to are the ones of players talking players celebrating at homeplate after a homerun players talking in the dugout fan and player interaction such as signing autographs etc. While some of you may find them unnecessary I think that they make the game much more exciting. I certainly enjoy seeing them which is a reason why I am such a big fan of The Show. What do you guys think? Will 2K ever bring them back?Tags: None -

Ya but at the same time at least they are there sprinkled on top during key moments when they matter.Comment

Re: Remember cutscenes?
I wish cut-scenes were in real time like in NBA 2K8. Meaning like if you threw a ball in from catching a fly ball with nobody on, the game would maybe start doing some cut-scenes of the outfielder that just caught it, signals the number of outs, starts walking back to his position, etc. Meanwhile, since it's all in real time, the retired batter goes back to the dugout as the next batter is coming from the on-deck circle. We get realistic camera captured in a stationary state, following the batter as we get his overlays as he walks up, etc.
Heck, even sometimes [with the real time implementation] we won't get a cut-scene of the batter walking up, and we'll see him getting in the box and ready from the BTP view. It will all be just like a TV broadcast I guess. All I know is... I know that you guys think that "shaky cam" thing where they do quick zoom-ins is "cool" and all... but it's just not what you see on TV. Not ever. I mean you may get close up shots, but not in the way that they do it.
Speaking of real time, I would like to see home runs a portrayed more realistically as well. Normally, in a real life game, you see the home run, then the BTP cam follows the batter running, rounding first, etc. Maybe some other shots of the crowd, pitcher, coaches, dugout, or maybe still just the batter... and he'll make his circuit all the way around home before they decide to show a replay. I just wish it were portrayed in this light.
But to get back on the OP's request, I agree to an extent. If you mean the pre-game stuff (signing autographs), I just want to see things that don't look so repetitive since they're all canned cut-scenes. Variety is a must this day and age.Last edited by Blzer; 01-24-2008, 08:44 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Remember cutscenes?
In my eyes it seems like people's ideas of a presentation have changed. About 5 years ago if there weren't cutscenes throughout the games you played the presentation was considered lacking. Those have now been phased out completely and all people care about is some nice commentary and overlays. Personally I am a bit sick of the bland presentation and atmostphere. As you stated sometimes now the batter just appears in the box and isn't even shown walking up. I would just like to again as you stated see the player signal the outs in real time kiss a homer goodbye and perhaps interact with other players as you see so often in real life baseball on ESPN or other networks. It just makes the game feel more "complete".Last edited by bowlerguy92; 01-24-2008, 08:44 PM.Comment

Re: Remember cutscenes?
thats exactly what i hate about the shows cut scenes, is that they aren't in real time, is takes away from the game, and it doesn't look realistic at allComment

Re: Remember cutscenes?
Speaking of presentation, has there been any mention about how the presentation looks this year? Has it been revamped from last year or is it pretty much the same thing with maybe a few different overlays, etc. Personally, I didn't mind how 2K7 looked last year, but I didn't think its presentation was anything to brag about. I kinda like how The Show looks with its overlays. IMO they just seem cleaner and more professional (and therefore more realistic) than 2K7's presentation. In my eyes it seems like people's ideas of a presentation have changed. Re: Remember cutscenes?
I really hope there are more cutscenes in the game. There are a few in 2K7, but not nearly enough. The Show does an awesome job with cutscenes.
And I agree with Blzer about the HR's. The way it was done in 2K7 sucked. You never saw the player crossing the plate, ever. You never saw him high-5ing/celebrating with the guys that were on base and/or the hitter coming to the plate next. You never see him go to the dugout and celebrate with teamates. Nothing.
You see all of that in The Show. All you got in 2K7 was a stupid replay of the player rounding 1B and peaking at the pitcher out of the corner of his eye for whatever reason.Comment

Thats pretty much the biggest reason I want to see a gameplay video to see if those are back in. If there are cutscenes in the game again I will absolutely flip out.Comment

Re: Remember cutscenes?
That is right...i often look at game on TV and wonder why the people who develop don't just film a game or two and use that for reference...i suspect they do the "zoom in" for the graphics people. And they are "cool" but not in the true spirit of a TV style broadcast. In a tv broadcast they do all type of things during the gameI wish cut-scenes were in real time like in NBA 2K8. Meaning like if you threw a ball in from catching a fly ball with nobody on, the game would maybe start doing some cut-scenes of the outfielder that just caught it, signals the number of outs, starts walking back to his position, etc. Meanwhile, since it's all in real time, the retired batter goes back to the dugout as the next batter is coming from the on-deck circle. people walking into the stadium
kids at the "kid zone"
sigh holders
other camera men for the obligaory wave at the other camera shot
the announcers usually get there 25 seconds of face time
the dugout
stats, stats and more stats
etc...etc..etc
So the games are getting close, but there are a lot of strides to make. Football video games are the furthest away from real tv broadcast though...When you see it...you'll know what it is...Comment
