Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
This part sounds cool...
"The coolest addition to the fielding -- and this is one those things that's so small yet so cool -- has to do with catching fly balls. In every baseball title of the past decade you could always see where a sky high ball was going to land. Now you'll only get the targeting reticule when your outfielder is facing in the proper direction. So if Carlos Beltran is sprinting back to the warning track with his head turned he's not going to know exactly where the ball is going to land until he turns around to see. Like we said, it's small but very cool."Pitchers and Catchers Report; Life Worth Living AgainComment

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
Nothing terribly new but I hope that twitchiness in regards to the pitching and the analog stick isn't that huge of a problem.
The new mode that's a secret is fairly interesting thoughMember of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I think the secrete mode may have something to do with the baseball cards Brinkman was talking about on the podcast.PSN: PhiNuPi

SPTO, I think you are right when you say nothing new. We have already heard most of this information. The only thing they didn't talk about were the baseball cards.
Edit: It's nothing new for OS, but what about the average Joe Gamer it's probably all new.Last edited by Mr.Wednesday; 01-25-2008, 09:50 PM.PSN: PhiNuPi

IGN dude said
"Base running, while not a focal point of baseball, has received a bit of a touch-up as well in 2K8...."
When has baserunning never been a focal point?
Did they just hand the preview disc over to some intern or something and say make some videos and write up a report...?

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
I'm pretty disappointed that the fielding throw meter is based on release point instead of strength of throw. It was cool in MVP that you had to judge whether you really needed to unleash a cannon throw and take the chance that it would be offline. I assume in 2K8 the fielder just throws as hard as he can all the time? That's sort of stupid.Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
Not true, throw speed is based mostly on the player and the animation being used (you can control running throw or balanced throw with the L-stick). You can slightly adjust the speed (and thus the size of the good release zone), by how far you push the R-stick towards the edge. Press it just a little and you will get a huge green release zone, but a slower velocity throw.
I think the release point is a good idea, but I loved being able to control the strength of the throw on MVP. Glad you guys kept that in.Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
