From what i saw on those videos, they probabley were'nt skilled enough to do either.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
I just think lots of people have their own agenda and they were hoping that 2k8 is bad so they can say "i told ya so". So no matter what they show those people will always complain about something. If ya wanna go splooge to the other mlb game then go do it on their forum with their t-rex arms.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
From the videos you can tell KUSH didn't just sit on their hands during the off-season. I really like the way they've changed the on-screen over-lay as it now doesn't stretch across the whole screen.
I noticed this also carries to the player models. It seems almost like the subtle changes the the NBA Series did around on-screen stuff, including Player Models. The graphics look awesome & I can't wait to see them on my HDTV.
It seems like they've added a smaller window for the user to observe the player after the ball is hit(Base-Running Window) than last years window. The strike-zone seems to be done correctly as it doesn't seem too low or too high..
The whole not seeing where a ball is gonna land during fly balls if your back is turned sounds awesome & I'm really looking forward to seeing this in action. It actually might makes flagging fly balls fun & seem more realistic.
Finally, I heard what I needed to hear from the preview, when IGN said this:
There's no question that MLB 2K8 is better than last year's, and that's the main goal of every yearly sports title.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
I will wait to play the Demo before i pass any judgments, thats if it comes out before the game does. Sometime they dont for sports games, but maybe thats only with EA.
The only thing that bothers me is in the IGN Preview, at the end they stated that you cant control if you want to hit a line drive or a pop-up. I think that would be a pretty decent blow to the gameplay. Whats the point of playing "small ball" when you cant try to hit a pop-up to get a sac-fly. Thats a pretty big part of baseball.
"Our only qualm with the lack of a power or contact interface is that during some situations -- like trying to hit a sac-fly to drive a man in from third -- we couldn't control whether we hit a liner up the middle or a pop-fly to the warning track. "
Im holding the opinion that Im sold on brinkman. I dont believe I have any more passion for baseball videogames than he does and its safe to say based on his career choice as compared to mine, he is prob more passionate. with that beleif in mind I gotta say that everything he has implemented and the game he is releasing is prob no different than what I would release if 2K came up to me an said here take these people tell them what to do and theyll make the game.
Everyone wants to compare every baseball game thats released to MVP 05, well compare MVP 05. Graphics, uniforms, faces, animations, stadiums, presentation? MVP is not even in the same league. Gameplay to date MVP has had superior gameplay. Noone here has played 2k8 but we have heard from the man himself (brinkman) that this was the main focus. Will we get an accurate depiction of baseball being played. will we have to use strategy to win as opposed to swinging at every pitch. We will find out soon enough. Its funny cause some of the people that complain about 2k8 already are complaining about graphical stuff and MVP 05 is awsome to them. mkes no sense. 2k7 is some AI adjustments and gameplay enhancements away from being the best baseball game ever made. look at the big picture about the game. Not just that they didnt change the play by play that muchComment

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
We saw four pitchers...and four different custom pitching windups.
The new homerun camera is AWESOME....although I would love to have seen the fans catch the ball, I can deal with it if they dont.
I thought the lighting at Fenway looked awesome. Is it just me or does the night game look a little darker and more realistic now?
I loved Big Papi's follow through.
The new throw meter looks difficult. That's what I want!! I would win games 10-15 to zero every game last season...even on high difficulties. I want a challenge.
I think the dirt effect is cool.
I cant wait to see more of this game. The animations looked smoother too...60fps!!!
To me it looks like the same crap with 4 new control options.
I cant even get around the same presentation year after year . I hear Miller/Morgan and their organ in my sleep.
As nice as some stills look it just doesnt blend as real MLB baseball.
Just my opinion as the thread asked.Last edited by abcd; 01-27-2008, 01:10 AM.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
That just may be the silliest thing I have read on here in a long, long time. What on earth are you thinking when you typed that? It seriously makes no sense.
When you play Madden and score a touchdown, do you spike the ball and do a dance? No, so they shouldn't include it in the game then, going by your logic.
When you play MLB: The Show and you hit a HR, do you high-5 people around you? No, so they shouldn't include it in the game then.
When you score a goal in an NHL game do you dump gallons of water on the ground, freeze it, then skate around celebrating? No, so they shouldn't include it in the game then.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
Are you dense? Of course it's not a big deal in the real world, but in the game world when you hit a HR the pace of the game shouldn't go on as if nothing happened. The game is supposed to mimic real life. When you watch baseball and a HR is hit. Do they show the batter rounding a base for 3 seconds, show a replay, then go immediately to the next batter?
Of course not. Play a game of The Show and hit a HR. That's the way it should be. The way 2K does it sucks. You could hit a huge HR and literally 6 seconds later you are batting again as if nothing just happened.Comment

I was a bit disappointed with this as well. However, the game still carries the "batters eye" mechanic, and this may allow us to determine how we want to swing. If we wish to pop the ball up, maybe we must lower the batters eye from where we think the initial pitch will be, thus, hit a pop up.Comment

Re: Am I the only one who thinks it looks awesome?
Yes the game looks the same It is basically the same for the last 100 years. As far as the 2k version goes I am excitied Ithink it will be a leap forward from 2k7.The announcing is fine it is there in the background .The videos really have me counting down the days.In fact I am playing 2k7 to fill in the void till the demo.Question does anybody know how many teams this year you will be able to control at one time.Last year it was 4.Comment
