    Check Swings???

Does anyone know if check swings will be easier to do in 2k8 than it was in 2k7? Seemed impossible to do in 2k7 in my mind.

Hopefully! Last year to do a check it had to be a predetermined action as opposed to just a reaction to a pitch.

Yeah...i had to decided whether to swing or not before the pitcher threw the pitch..I like the way it is in the show..Much easier to pull off in my mind.

It seems like it should be easier. If every swing requires a pull-back and push-forward of the stick, a check swing should be anything that isn't a full push forward

I really dont see how the check swing can be accomplished by using the swing stick.. I would think that when you go to swing, you are going to pull back on the stick to load and then push up to swing.. but to actually stop the stick from going all the forward seems extremely difficult to me because its not like you have much time to react to the pitch in the first place and having to stop the forward stick motion in time to check would be tough.. I dunno.

If it works similarly to the way MVP worked, you could let go of the swing before you pushed the stick forward (releasing the right stick from the coiled position and letting it go back to its neutral position).

On a separate topic, does anyone know if you can do slap hits with the right stick? Meaning just push up(from neutral) for a quick swing to protect runners on a hit and run etc.

I like the "slap" hit idea..Would be good to have that option when you want to protect the plate on a 2 strike count.

                  Re: Check Swings???

It worked perfect in NCAA MVP. You had complete control over the swing. If mapped properly, it's easy to stop your swing in the middle...at least if felt natural do so in the game.

Checking a swing should be easy to do as it is common in baseball. Being successful and doing it before the bat crosses the "plane" is one thing, but at least being able to attempt one should be easy to do.

Same with hitting flyballs. With runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, I always pull+push up to try to hit it high and deep, sac-fly for an easy run. Since they've removed the power swing option, I wonder if there's any way to get the similar result.
