Theory about why there's no demo yet.

Okay so I've thought about it and I'm way past wondering why a demo hasn't dropped yet. I'm a firm believer in Occam's Razor, which states that in any given situation, the least complicated answer is usually correct. In the case of tardy or non-existent game demos in releases past, there usually isn't a consistent reason given by the developer why the demo was delayed, but the common denominator between the games is almost always because the game isn't that good, or doesn't offer a good deal of changes from its previous iteration.

I hope in my still-boyish heart that this isn't the case, but as we're already in the second week of February I'm resigned to the fact that the game just won't be that much more revolutionary than 2k7 was(n't.)

Anyway, I'm not a big fat ***** - I will be buying this game on release day no matter what. I just think that's the reason we've not yet seen a demo is a big indication that no one's going to be bowled over by this one. Oh well.

I don't really think that's the case. We've seen Some good games come out with delayed demos. I think it's the fact they just don't have the demo ready yet. I mean what's the point of releasing a demo if it's not fully finished and gives out a bad vibe about the game. I think 2k is just making sure they got everything down before they release it.

Once a demo is completed and sent to MicroSoft/Sony, the developer has no control over how long it'll take to get approved and uploaded.

It'll be up when it's up. And it's only February 9th.

its fine the demo is not out, but whats the problem is the promises we have heard about the demo. I know its a marketing thing to kind of hold on info and vids of the game but it gets irritating when it constantly happens. I'm the demo will be out, and it better match the promises made by B and 2ksports.

Yeah I mean it's only Feb. 9th and look, The Show hasn't got a demo out either so just chillax (as the cool kids say) and it'll come out sooner rather then later.

I believe the demo should be out by now for 2K8 and The Show but considering neither are out I don't think the games being bad are the case.

I think that once it goes GOLD then we will see a demo and that may be next week or the week after!

I'm guessing demo comes out next week and release date stays as is March 3rd!

Why, because it's basically what KushGamer keeps saying but nobody seems to listen!

Nobody seems to have any patience anymore. We're only a week past the Super Bowl and pitchers and catchers have not even reported yet. It's way too early for a demo. Heck early March is way too early to release the game. It will be released when it is ready.

The demo has not dropped and I stand by my theory! In which I have said since day one of the BB demo interviews.

Since there is a pitching tutorial... they will market it along side pitchers and catchers having to report to Spring Training next week.

Pitching Tutorial, February, Kush's Spring Training comment (asking us when pitchers and catchers report with a wink, as if he doesn't know) before he left 2K.

Just a hunch, but makes perfect sense, marketing wise, since there is a whole pitching tutorial thing.

Marketing will be like,

"It is time to report to spring training and fine tune your pitching (in the tutorial) before the start of the season"

2K has no control over when the demo is released on the marketplace. Im sure Microsoft has it and is testing it as we speak. Thats a process that can take between 1-2 weeks after which Microsoft gives 1 day of notice so press releases and announcements can be made before it is available for download. Props to my cousin at EA Burnaby for that bit of info.

...remember 2 years ago, when demos for games didn't even exist? People have so little patience these days.

It will be up when its ready, not before. This debate on "when will demo be out" is kinda getting annyoing now.

I thought Kush said that 2K's main focus right now is getting the game gold, and then they would focus on putting the finishing touches on the demo after that. I don't think the game has gone gold yet, so if he's right, I doubt MS has even begun certifying the demo. Long story short, the demo won't be out anytime in the next few days.
