To swing or not to swing?

That is the question! It just seems like you end up swinging at every pitch. A1 pitches are usally in or near the strike zone, when they're not you don't have the time to make that decision. With the lack of a decent check swing, you end up swinging at everything! This was the case last year and from what I've seen on the 2 inning videos, it seems to be the same. I hope that it was just "user error" on those vids and that they didn't try to check swing. If anyone has seen anything about this, please let me know. This is a major issue for me. Thanks!

Yup, have to agree with last year's game. The problem was they removed a slider in 2K7 that was in previous games - it was either AI Corner or AI Location. What that slider did, is it allowed you to set the minimum and maximum the CPU would miss the strikezone by on balls. In other words, you could set it so balls could and often would end up 12 inches outside, meaning it was much easier to tell balls from strikes.

Like I said, they removed this slider last year. The result was the CPU would throw almost every ball so close to strikezone that it resulted in the swinging-at-every-pitch dynamic you mentioned. And given they removed that slider, I highly doubt it'll be back in this year, we'll see.

completely agree... this was a major problem during online play, in which it was hard to layoff balls

I have always been able to not swing at balls, no matter what game it is. You, as well as most people, just suck...which is why I don't even bother playing baseball games online....

I pretty much swing at everything in baseball games b/c there's not enough tiem to decide if its a ball or not. Then again, the last baseball game I played was 5 years ago. Perhaps I've matured since then.

Changing the hit stick from a pull back and release method to a pull back and push forward method should make it easier to check swing. It was easier to check swing in the college version of MVP that had that same R hit stick method. As long as you don't push the whole way forward, or if you just let go of the pulled back stick instead of pushing forward, you'll check swing. It's much easier to do in the split second it takes to get to the plate compared to last years method of check swinging which was to pull back, let go, and then quickly pull back again.

So at least in theory, it should be easier. Then again, I'm always weary of R analog stick hitting, so I'm going to wait and judge later rather than speculate that its going to be much improved.
