    AI in fantasy drafts

Has anyone heard if 2K fixed the AI in the fantasy drafts?

It has been awful in years past. Even with the last pick you can build an All-Star team. There is no reason Miguel Tejeda should get picked over Hanley Ramirez, not one GM in real life would do that.

I don't mean this as an insult but why do people actually play with the fantasy draft teams?

I really am just curious, I have played a game or 2 with fantasy draft but not a season I just thought it was the realism everyone played for.

Because some people like playing with their home teams but they get sick of playing with the same players all the time. I'm all about realism when it comes to gameplay, not necessarily rosters.

For me, it makes the season more interesting. Instead of playing with the Red Sox knowing I'm going to sweep the Royals or Rays I can play those teams who now may have Pujols or A-Rod and it makes it a bit more challenging.

Honestly, I usually do two leagues, one with real rosters and one on a fantasy draft. It prevents the game from getting old.

I also agree with doing a Fantasy Draft my brother and I love it. Also, you can take a underdog team and change their future.

And I do know what you saying about the draft A.I.. NOT ONLY do they pick the wrong player's but let's not forget that Every team would overload on one postion. Some may have 6 CF's when they had holes elsewhere. I remember trying to fill my team and look at what player's were left? I said how in the heck am I supposed to have a 50-60 starting for me? It always happened then the really good player's on most CPU team would not play and it screwed their season up stat wise.

I only called him that because I can't for the life of me spell his last name, you'll see alot of that

Keep in mind the AI usually just selected the best player available for ratings, and occasionally going for the youth movement as well. Also, with the way that 2k does their ratings (past three years averaged out), you're not going to see someone that just broke out picked high (like the Ramirez/Tejada situation). Though, Hanley should be rated higher because he's had two great seasons now.

I'm not big on them either, but fantasy drafst add parity to the one sport that doesn't have it. With no salary cap in baseball, a fantasy draft makes things as even as possible (at least from the start).

In MVP 05 I do one, but first I would unlock all the legend players like Ruth and Cobb. I would then incorporate them into my fantasy draft. Lots of fun.

I tried this mode last year and was thoroughly dissapointed. I had A Rod, Carl Crawford, Morneau, Texiera, Fielder, Jose Reyes, and 5 all star starters. I easily fielded an all star team that through 30 games lost 2. It was a little fun for a sec then I had to shut it down.

They AI in a fantasy draft should also be different for doing a franchise and a single season.

Drafting a season it makes sense to take some older guys that you just need for a year. When doing a franchise, the AI should have the sense to pick players to build an entire team around. In real life, no one would be taking Jeff Kent or Miguel Tejeda over Tulowitski or Phiilips. The computer shouldn't be taking middle infielders over young pitchers.
