    Info on the Wii version?

Hey guys, I found out that there's a Wii version of this game. Did a search of this forum but the word "Wii" was too short for the search filter or something, so nothing came up.

Could someone give me or point me to a run-down/preview on how the Wii version will be? I have never played the MLB2k series and don't know much about it's nuances, etc.

Franchise mode is the most important to me....

    Thanks for any help!

You entered "Wii" in your search entry, and it said yours was too short?

Problem is that I actually want to physically play the games. I don't get any fulfillment out of the text-based sims once the initial awe of how deep the game is wears off.

I had MLB Power Pros on the Wii and it played a ****ing awesome game of baseball. I'd love to actually do the motions though. Is this game going to have motion control?

        EDIT: Ha---ha, Blzer.

On a serious note, I don't think we really know anything about this version. Even the screenshots resembled that of a terrible looking PS2 game (shades of High Heat drew on the shots). I, as well as others, was actually very surprised to see the lackluster visuals of the Wii version.

I'd imagine that they would have the franchise mode, but I can't be too sure. I think there might have been an article on Gamespot, so you can look at that and see what they said. If no article, there are definitely screenshots there.

Huh? You can say that about the 360 version also or you could say go buy a real bat and go outside. I read that the Wii version will have franchise mode and if I can recall where I read that I'll throw up a link.

Re: Info on the Wii version?

I'm yet to see a major sports game franchise even begin to approach the 360 and PS3 in terms of game quality for the Wii. The exception possibly being early on with Madden 07. It's probably not saying much, but I enjoyed Madden 07 way more on Wii than on my 360. Fortunately I got to play 08 on Wii before I bought it and it was a mess. Yeah, it was a mess on 360 too..but more on the Wii. I doubt this will be different with MLB 2k8 if they bring it over.

Power Pros, that's a different story. That game to me was the best baseball game of last year. It's just that when they have to port something over to the Wii from the other "big 2" so much seems to get lost in the translation.

I'm interested in the wii version as well. There wasn't much info on there- about a week ago I scoured the internet for some.

we won't know if its a bust or not till the game comes out - although i'd like to see some full motion wii style controls, they need to make that customizable ie if we were taking all the swings, pitching every pitch - the game would get old fast - we'll know soon enough

The only mention of the Wii version in the Game Informer preview was that it had motion controls, but otherwise was a lot more like 2K7 than the 360 and PS3 versions of 2K8. They didn't explain what they meant by that though.

Not to come on here and sound negative again, but if you're not hearing much about a Wii version it will most likely be a lazily ported over game with wonky motion controls and lackluster graphics. Please don't think I'm hating on the Wii. I have one, and love a lot of stuff for it. But for some reason when they bring over sports games that are also on 360 and PS3 it just never turns out good. I hope I'm proven wrong though. The Wii has so much potential particularly for something like a baseball game.

The best thing 2k could do IMO is to clean up the few flaws that Power Pros had and put a new version of that out. The Wii had the best baseball game out last year IMHO, and for the most part it flew completely under the radar.

Wouldn't get old to me. The only way I'd buy it is if I can take every swing and pitch every pitch. That would be as close to actually playing baseball as you could get in a video game.
