Your baseball gaming decision....where are you at?
i posted a similar thread on the official site and I am going to do one just like this in the OS Show forum. But I wanted to see where peoples decision making is at in regards to the baseball game they will get. I am not asking for what game you will get, although given the forum i am in i would think the Show.200I have NO choice (ie 360 owner)0%47I have No choice, but I wish I did0%35I have made up my mind and little can change it0%43I am waiting for the demo0%26I am on the fence and could go either way0%11I will get both0%38Tags: None -

I'm probably going to buy 2k8 (no PS3, so no choice), but I might wait a day or two to see how everyone likes it. I'd also like to play the demo first.
If it really sucks, I might go back to playing High Heat 2004 on my PC and try to find some 2008 rosters. -

Re: Your baseball gaming decision....where are you at?
I bought a PS2 a year and a half ago, just for The Show. And I'm still playing it. That option could be worth your while, although now that the PS3 has dropped in price, it's probably worth it to spend the extra dough on that.Comment

Re: Your baseball gaming decision....where are you at?
I have no choice if I decide to purchase a baseball game this year as I only own a 360. Like every year, I'll try and rent it first, but at minimum I will wait a few days and read the reviews and impressions on here from some of the people I trust. With MLB 2K7 and APF, I waited about a week and was able to pick up the games used for about $5 to $10 off-so that was my personal little protest to 2K for giving me games that I felt were incomplete and not worth full price. I figured they have to earn my money. Plus because of my job, our busy season runs through the first week or two of March, so it would be pointless for me to buy it on day 1 since I'm usually working 55-65 hours a week and working through the weekends.
I would love to have another choice. I don't understand the loyalty to corporations (unless you work for them or own stock in them) and could care less if the best baseball game was made by 2K, EA, Sony or John Doe. I barely have enough time to play one game, so I just want the best one.
That being said, I think this game sounds promising and I'm a little excited about it. There are still things that concern me, but I'm not expecting perfection, so my expectations are obtainable. I think the pitching interface alone is enough for me. I come from a pitching background and am excited that someone has actually tried to replicate how hard it is to actually execute quality pitches over and over again.Comment

Re: Your baseball gaming decision....where are you at?
I think The Show looks great, but I just can't justify spending $500 for one game. There is really nothing else on the PS3 that excites me as a gamer. Things like blu-ray, bigger HD, etc. aren't really that important to me. So I'll most certainly get 2k8 this year and enjoy it as much, if not more than I did 2K7.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

As of this week, a Blu-Ray player will soon be very important if you plan on watching DVDs. Which means... I now have a reason to run out and buy a PS3 by next year, YIPPEE!Comment

Re: Your baseball gaming decision....where are you at?
Well, I chose waiting on the demo, but am not sure that will do it for me. I will trust the people I trust when it comes to objective pros/cons of the game. If they give it the thumbs up, good enough for me (there will be PMs back and forth to stay away from both extreme sides and arguing), then I'll buy it, or not.
I'll be busy in March working on a roster with MK for The Show, so I have plenty of time to decide and not much time to really game, however, I hope the hype is more than just hype.
Two years ago I was rosterman for this game. Three years ago I was rosterman for this game. I dumped it last year because of the poor player management (and frustrating gameplay). Maybe I can get worked up again about it. I hope.Comment
