Small details

Anybody seen any cool small details off the gameplay vids. I just saw this

After you throw a pitch, It shows you which pitch you threw and how good you threw it. For example if I throw a fastball and hit the mark it will show Fastball and "Gesture- high 90's" when I select the next pitch. I find that pretty cool that it tells you how well you did on your last pitch

In the Cubs/Cards vid, when Theriot scores, he attempts to go back to the dugout, but runs into the umpire, and they both attempt to get out of each others way. nice animation I though.

I like how the Catcher calls the pitches now. Hand signals vs glowing pitch

I like that as well...

I think it will be much cooler than the button lighing up of what pitch to throw.

Does this year's game have varying umpires. I wonder if anyone noticed if there were differences between umpires for different games? (different ball and strike calls, gestures for strikes, etc) If I remember correctly I heard the Show had this but wasn't too sure. I only own a 360.

It does this year, and it supposedly did last year.

I noticed the batters boxes faded out as the game got later. Thats a nice little detail.

Wow, I love small details like the ones stated above. Im especially encouraged that they have a runner avoid an umpire this year, as opposed to what I saw last year where you could run through Catchers and not stop. Also calling pitches using fingers seemed like a no brainer being such an integral part of the game, but its nice to see it added in.

The one thing that I liked about The Show demo was the pitchers taking they're hats off at times to wipe the sweat...

When Rolen popped up in the Cards/Cubs game he took the bat over his head like he wanted to smash it in the ground. It's something you see all of the time when guys pop up in key situations.

you know world series baseball 98 on the sega saturn did this too haha

The Show has fantastic details in it. Some of the things that happen in that game are kind of like, "wow did I really just see that happen" moments. I want to experience those in 2K baseball as well. The attention to detail paid in that game far surpasses anything 2K has done. That's the one thing I wish they would really get their act together on.

Another detail, the chalk for the batters box will look fresh in the 1st but all messed up in the 7th or 8th

Yeah, little details are great, but at the same time, I'd rather have the amount of signature animations 2k has over the Show. If I had a choice of signature pitches and batting animations or pitchers wiping sweat off their heads with generic pitiching animations, I'd take the signature stuff. Once they signature stuff is complete, they can start to add a lot more little things.
