Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 (360/PS3) Impressions
Hey,
I don't have MLB 2k8 (yet), but I did pick up MLB 08 The Show last week, was so excited to play it, then it would get to the "Press Start" screen, then when I hit start it would freeze right there.
I thought after all this wait, I had gotten a defective copy! And I had driven a long way, bought it at some ghetto mom and pop location with no receipt.
Anways, I went to the PS3 main menu and set internet connection to "disabled" and the game started fine. Some people on The Show boards chimed in and said they had the same problem and it is related to what router you are using.
Maybe it could be the same with yours just on a different game? If you want to read the thread I started on The Show board the thread title was "Defective! I may be SOL".
Hope that helps.Comment

I agree other than the fact that it doesn't take hours of play to see framerate issues...that is a killer for me...Comment

Yikes, not what I wanted to hear. It's odd though since 2k didn't really touch the graphics of the game.Comment

I am very skeptical on this. There are several outlets that have played the game, including Steve here at OS, who you think would have mentioned this 'massive' slowdown.
Steve mentioned some hiccups but nothing that makes it unplayable.Comment

So the game isn't 60fps? I thought that was a major goal this year and part of the reason graphics saw some reduction.Comment

Re: Major League Baseball 2K8 (360/PS3) Impressions
just messed around with the game a bit.
Graphics are okay. not bad but nothing that makes you say WOW. Really like the new throwing meter / controls. Game plays better than last years so if you liked last years you should not have any worries. I haven't messed with sliders or anything as I am just getting a feel for the game. There are definitely some frame rate issues at times but I don't think it affects the game play. Not sure if this will take my time away from the other game. I am going back and forth right now playing the same teams and kind of comparing the two.
If so, please let me know how the 2 compare. I have the Show 08 and LOVE IT. With some minor slider adjustments it is the best baseball game I have ever played. However, based on MLB2K7, I really thought all they needed to do to get to the Show's level was improve animations and framerate, less HR's, more hit variety. Basically, make it play more like real baseball and make the players move smoother.
Any comparison would be appreciated.Comment

Tried it on my HDTV at 720 and its still choppy but better then the sdtv. But I only have 1 hdtv in the house and its not mine. So im stuck with SDTV. Oh yeah. 2k and their infamous stutters.Comment
