    The Barry Bonds Effect?

Just looking for a discussion that doesn't involves all of the week before release buzz.

Assuming Barry Bonds(or Joe Dobbs or what ever they usually name him) make the release roster as a FA and assuming we don't all adjust his stats down to nothing.

What CPU controlled team(assuming CPU FA signings) jumps out and signs him? I am just imagining a self contained world where accusations and attitude aren't a factor and a player with the hitting numbers Bonds will likely have in game is sitting there on the FA market. Imagine the in game Red Sox or Yankees adding an in game bat like that through FA.

I'm a Stro's fan and franchise player so I will probably let it ride however it goes as long as it isn't in my division(unless the signing actually happens that way in real life). But I can imagine some playoff series that get a whole lot more challenging with a Dobbs in the lineup.

Let's talk game baseball, not baseball game for a little while. Where does he land and where does he make the biggest splash?

In Japan, where he deserves to be.

I think that Bonds, if he is in the game, will be significantly depleted in ratings. Bonds is very old, may not end up playing this season (it's almost March and there's no idea where he will end up, if anywhere), and his numbers have been mediocre over the last two years from injuries, attention, and so on.

He should be severely limited defensively and in stamina, enough so that you are forced to put him on the bench every few games and that having him on your team for an NL Team is a serious liability -- as it is in real life.

From real world talks, Tampa Bay may be the place.

In my game, I'll be sure to put his defensive numbers, speed, stamina and all those types of attributes very low. So, like a previous post stated, if an NL team takes a gamble on him, it will definitely hurt to get him in the lineup. But, his hitting numbers will still be a great addition for an AL team to throw in to the 5 or 6 hole.

I'ma be pissed if Bonds goes to Tampa, I'm a Tampa fan and idk what I would do if he came to town. I would probably buy a Bonds [Rays] jersey and cover it in *** just for reactions.

LOL! They'll have Floyd and Bonds. Going back to the days of Canseco, huh?

Pretty off topic, and I hate Bonds as much as the next person, but I think the Rays would benefit from Bonds, especially off the field. The team would finally gain some publicity.

Is that really the publicity they want? I mean they got rid of Dukes and Young in the offseason because of their character issues...

In a strictly computer game sense (and assuming a rating that would produce stats similar to his numerous projections for this season) I'd say Seattle (Bonds instead of Vidro) as the primary DH would make the most logical sense.

Sure that would make good sense. Vidro is the DH and he hit like 6 HR last year from that spot. I actually wanted Bonds a year or two ago before he broke the record but now? No way. He can draw a ton of walks and Seattle actually needs that but still. Seattle has good character guys.
