Does anyone know how Simmed stats work?

Maybe this is a question for Kush or someone else with experience in the field, but does anyone know or have a basic understanding of how simmed stats come about?

Does the computer actually go through and actually run through full game scenarios or are the stats just based on the ratings of the player and some other outside numbers.

Has anyone every gone simmed a season and taken a player like Pujols and put him at leadoff to see how his stats would be impacted? Would he still drive in 130-ish runs or would it drop down to like 80 or 90?

I'm just wondering how the computer lineup problem changes stats the occur outside of the games you actually play..over the course of a season.

Real interesting. I would also like to know. Ben did say he's not satisfied where the sim engine is at right know.

On another note, Does anyone know if 2k7 had a CPU Sim length option like in the NBA 2k Series. For example if you only play 6 innings, the CPU games when simmed will only play 6 innings.

No, there is nothing like that.

As for the original question, this is just educated guessing, but I don't think it actually simmed through each game, based solely on the speed with which you could sim through a season. Games like MVP series, and MLB Power Pros, both actually simmed each game, and it took FOREVER.

2K7 and previous 2K games have been able to sim seasons much faster than this, leading me to believe that each game is not actually simmed out, but that some formula is used to determine stats over the course of a simmed game/season.

But yeah, I'm pretty sure players' numbers are effected by where you bat them in the order. So Pujols batting leadoff would most likely have many fewer RBIs, but probably more runs.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure Madden had full-game sims and it simmed pretty fast. So it would play out all the game situations and though all the quarters and you would be able to view a scoring summary.
