Online Franchise or CPU Controlled Teams Online?

In another thread, the "Next Gen X-Box" thread, the preview mentioned four player franchises. Now, I assume that this is for local play, not online, but I don't remember from 2K7 -- were you able to play online franchises' with friends, or at least, a 162-game season, but with computer controlled teams controlling the majority of teams, while users controlled just a handful?

I've always wanted an online franchise/season mode, and to play it with friends... so even though we may only control, say, four or five teams spread accross one division or one league (as in AL/NL), we'd play the majority of our games against the CPU teams like any other franchise, but handfuls of games against each other. With the right management (allowing, say, a player to play through a series before waiting for the others to catch up; and then forcing a simulation if games are missed by a certain date), I think that it'd be the logical addition for franchise and online play.

Any idea if that was possible, or something similar in 2K7, and whether it's been mentioned for 2K8?

There wasn't anything like it in 2K7, and I'm 100% sure that if it was in 2K8, we would have heard about it by now. So, I'm gussing no.

There are online leagues in 2K7(and 2K8), but those don't allow CPU teams and they don't have divisions and NL/AL, etc.

This would be a very cool feature to have. Having ANY person online be a team in your local franchise. I would actually care to play franchise mode then.

        Thanks for the info.

Yeah, Madden '07 kind of had this feature with "Live Opponent," which allowed you to play your franchise games against friends or other people on XBL. It was inexplicably taken out for Madden '08... But I'm hoping that some other developers recognize it for the good idea that it was and re-implement it into their online games. It added a done of replay value for what was an otherwise mediocre game.
