MLB 2K8: Diary of a Giant Turnaround, Part 2

Gametap has posted a article entitled MLB 2K8: Diary of a Giant Turnaround, Part 2.
"I simulate through the next month to see how my team is looking, and unfortunately, when I'm not playing, the Giants aren't winning, even with the added beef in the lineup. I sim all the way to the All-Star break and the Giants are 10 games out of first with the Padres holding the top spot in the NL West."

Thanks, I really like Jon Robinson's write ups. Franchise is the only mode I play, so it's a big deal for me. Looks good.

      Few notes
      - How did Arod win MVP when Manny hit .361 with 24 HR.
      - I didn't like how you can get fired by your owner and can no longer be the team you want to be
      - Some of those trade packages where unrealistic
      - The trading options were very nice tho
      - I really like that pujols screen
1)We don't know what stats Arod had for the year. He could have been second in avg and HR and had way more RBI. We don't know.
2)In part 1 Jon Robinson said you can turn off GM firing. He kept it on because he wanted it to be realistic.
3)Trade logic will never make everyone happy. Look at the NBA trades this year. If some of those happened in a videogame we would say they are unrealistic.

Thanks, I have been waiting. Lol, there was some real whitty humor in there. I like how after every move you face the chance of being fired. Seems like franchise is actually worth playing this year.

good points. Also now that I think about it, Arod's team (NY) made it to the playoffs as jon said and the Bosox didn't. That would be a major plus if team success is taken into account when picking the awards.

            Thanks, I'm craving more info

One note on the not being fired thing. I do think you can turn off owner firing if you so choose.

some good, some not so good. I don't get the Giants owner telling you to get rid of Rowand, a guy they just signed. When I get the game I hope the Phils owner doesn't tell me to get rid of Rollins/Utley/Hamels/Howard or something like that.

Lol, ya I can see it now "get rid of Howard he is a burden to our club". That would probably lead me to the possibility of throwing the game out the window.

Good read. The way he described everything about his franchise sounds like he had alot of fun with it, and thats what i plan to do when this game drops.

I wish he would've commented more on the gameplay this time around and and not solely on simming the seasons... I'm curious to hear how the game plays more than it simulates...

Considering he made it through two seasons in a week, I doubt he did much playing at all.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
                        Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

The point of the writeup is to talk about the franchise not gameplay.....so I think it served its purpose

And that's why I'll play my franchise with owner firing turned off. Very stupid AI logic.

And the trade logic is still incredibly flawed. Why would the Yankees trade Joba Chamberlain for two washed up middle infielders, and a slightly above average outfielder, when they wouldn't consider trading him for Johan Santana? I'll still get the game, and have a blast playing it, but they're killing me with the trade logic.
