Wal-Mart @ Midnight?

I wanted to start this thread in hopes that people who got their hands on a copy after Midnight Tuesday morning March 4th at their local Wal-Mart. I will be visiting 3 Wally Worlds in my area(Las Vegas) in hopes of scoring early.

Usually a person can get the new thing released at Wal-Mart after midnight but not sure about video games? Has anyone in the past been able to get a video game after midnight? I kind of have my doubts about MLB2k8. It's not like its high priority game like Halo.

It doesn't hurt to try. I tried getting the local gamestop kid to give me an early copy today. Unfortunately, he didn't give in. But you'll have a better chance if it actually is the day it is supposed to come out.

I'm a vendor, so I'll be at a few Wal-Marts quite early tueday morning, so I am going to try and grabe on then. It won't be midnight though. More like 3 am or so.

I'm a huge fan, and would love to be one of the first to get it, but I think I'm going to wait a week or so and see the reports from gamers. Last year's game disappointed me so much.

the electronics manager at a walmart near me said that the game is already in the stockrooms at his store. i asked him when would it be available and he said at midnight of the day of release. i told him that his company's website lists the ship date as 3/3/08, but that there is no release date given. he said, twice i might add, that if there is no release date that they are given permission to sell copies at the earliest date noted on the boxes. so he said that it would be available at midnight 3/3/08. i don't really believe it will be, but it's only 15 minutes (round trip) away from me, so i am going to swing by in about two hours (CST) and see if they have it. usually i can get one of guys there to grab one from the stockroom if its not already in the cases. if i get one, (which based on my experiences with The Show this weekend, i probably won't), i will let you guys know. so for all those people who say they saw it in display cases at WM, according to their policy, if its a 24 hr WM, you should be able to get it in a few hours.

I'm going to go to the GameStop that is literally about 2 minutes away from my house after school tomorrow and see if they have it. If not, I'll just go back Tuesday.

I work at wal-mart here in Sioux City, Iowa and it really depends on the person working in the dept after midnight. I know for a fact there first prioirty(sp?) is to get out the movies that are set to be released that tuesday, and if there are 2 people working the other does the video games. I know at my wal-mart we only have one person working and she HAS to do the movies first, but also get the games for those that ask. i have seen the box containing the game and its says "DO NOT SELL BEFORE 3/4/2008" and the computers at the store wont sell it (depends on your area really, i know that not all wal-marts do that). So i would figure at the stroke of midnight there really is nothing holding the transaction back.

i know some in my area do have them and some don't so there really is no rhyme or reason to it. i know that the WM closest to me told me that the game is in the stock room and he said that there was no release date sticker on it but confirmed that the website did have a ship date on it. so, i will check in about 15 minutes or so to see if its available.

well, to report back, the game is not in stock yet at the WM near me. the guy who said it was didn't pay attention to the carton and what he saw was MLB 08 not MLB 2K8, so i have to wait 24 hours until midnight tomorrow. but since its only 15 minutes away, its not a big deal...dmbfan, how did things work out for you?
