    no no-hitter for computer

i was getting no-hit by Buerhle through 8 innings. the announcers kept making note of it. just 3 outs left to get. but the computer puts in a new pitcher in the 9th inning. not good 2K. not good.

ugh, I'm not going to jump on the 2k bashing bandwagon because it seems to be filled to capacity right now, but that is disgusting and really disappointing

Was it a game where the closer needed to come in, or just some random guy? Was has stamina in the single digits? Lots of factors here before I jugde the decision by the CPU.

There have been instances of a starter being pulled in the middle of a no-hitter in order to ensure that the game is won.

I remember back in 96, during Cone's rehab start, he had a perfect game through 7, and had to be pulled because he was on a pitch count.

you think mark buehrle would be on a pitch count during a no-hitter dude?

are david cone rehab starts and mark buehrle regular starts the same thing? the answer doesn't matter because i know the game will not make that distinction anyways. so you are going to somehow give the game credit when it might be correct in some extremely rare and contrived circumstance? umm ok.

lay off the crack or 2k8's nuts.

Please tell me Bobby Jenks came into close, and Buerhle's stamina was way low. That I'll take...albeit the real Ozzie would've never done that...I'm dying to hear the answer to this.

buerhle's stamina was not low. i hardly even tried to hit because i wanted to see if he threw any balls, which he didn't. i was losing very big. not a good sign.

I think it happened to Shaun Marcum of the Blue Jays this year, or the year before. If a pitcher is on a pitch count, they will get pulled. But obviously this wasn't the case with the game you were playing.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does it mean that a pitcher is put on a pitch count? The manager wont let them throw more than a certain amount of pitches? Why?

Yes, "on a pitch count" means they are coming out after a certain maximum number of pitches regardless of the game situation.

But the situation described in the OP is unrealistic. Especially if the game was no even close. No reason to pull a guy in that situation. Poor AI from 2k.

That usually happens if a pitcher has had a recent injury or a history of injuries. Also, most pitchers have a point where over time once they reach a certain number of pitches, their performance drops noticably, so many managers will start pulling them at that point.

As for the situation the topic is about, that's pretty bad, but fortunately it's a situation that most people who are actually trying to hit are not going to find themselves in often or perhaps ever.

I remember the game you are talking about and in fact Marcum WAS on a pitch count BUT I also remember the day after Gibbons was torn to bits by the fans the media and anyone else who knows baseball. I can attest to that as i was at the game and the FANS even boo'd him for the rest of the game.

I remember the Astros threw 6 guys in a no-hitter about 5 years ago against the Yankees.

Not taking up for what happened. If he was good and you were losing big it seems he would have finished.
