Anyone thinking of, or have you already ditched the right stick stuff?

I'm in the camp of people that are not very happy with this game. My complaints are not frame rate related, but rather the general "wonkiness" of the pitching controls, and the feeling of disconnect with the right stick hitting. I won't go into it in detail as these things have been beat to death here, but basically when pitching I feel my gestures aren't always captured correctly...it's very hit or miss. And when you miss the batter doesn't so it's really frustrating. It feels like a Wii game with poor motion control to me. You know, you're doing what you're supposed to but the game is not always responding to it.

That said, I've yet to ditch these right stick movements all together and try the classic way. Has anybody done this yet and felt good about it? I played the game a bunch last night and am just about ready to give up on it, but I figured I'd try this when I get home later. I'm just hoping somebody has gone this route with encouraging results.

I ditched the swing stick and use classic batting and I've seen many different hit types. I like the pitching model though. If it's too tough drop the slider setting for it.

I like the swing stick and the control it gives but I just prefer having everything wrapped up into one button press. As for everything else that deals with the right stick, I love it. Wouldn't get rid of anything else.

I should say that I very much like the throwing controls on the right stick. The hitting and pitching is what has been bugging me. I've yet to really mess with sliders either. I'd like to give myself every chance possible of liking this game so I don't have to go without a good baseball sim this year(360 only owner).

Swing stick is the only thing I might ditch. I've gotten the pitching system down and love it.

Re: Anyone thinking of, or have you already ditched the right stick stuff?

I've decided on the new pitching, mostly because the old version (which they're now calling "precision" or something - I thought it was called "payoff" last year) is now painfully slow with no slider to adjust it. The more I use the new system, the more I'm okay with it. I especially like how you can turn off the graphic that tells you how to throw a pitch, so you're left with only the catcher holding out his fingers. I figure once I memorize all the pitches, that will be really sweet.

Analog fielding? I tired it for a little while, might go back, but I just don't see any marked difference. People talk like that's so innovative, making it "less video game-ish" or something; I don't understand that. I mean, so I'm pointing the stick instead of hitting a button. Using a different finger. Wow, innovative. Maybe I'm overlooking something, and like I said, I might switch back if others have some cool stuff to say about it, but I just don't see the point of getting used to a new system when there was nothing wrong with the old one.

And, as you might have guessed, I'm sticking with button hitting as well. Again, I just don't see how playing with the stick makes it any more "real." To be fair, though, I've never actually given it a true day in court. Why not? Because I don't think there's anything wrong with the classic system.

I love the pitching. Its a great deal of fun for me & if I mess up its because I really messed up. The hitting is so-so for me, I'm giving the Swing Stick 2.0 a little more of a chance but I might go back to classic. Yes, I do suck with the Swing Stick though I managed to hit 1 HR with it. :P

I really do like the pitching with the stick. Its very tough to get use to, but i think in the end it will be more rewarding than the precision. Fielding isnt all that bad. i still havent totally figured out the meters yet, but i think its kinda cool. at least they are trying something different. I've already ditched the 2.0 swing stick for last years. Honestly i just couldnt get the timing down and just wanted to play a few good games. overall, i think its cool they went with something "different" and not the same old.. whats really hurting me, is the fact that with fielding, its so choppy for me its unbearable. I think if they get this fixed, the game would actually be fun. the franchise has great depth, graphics are so so.. all in all, i like using the sticks instead of button presses.. so in short, i went to the old swing stick, and use their new styles for fielding and pitching.

I love the fielding controls a million percent more, the pitching, I am not liking that much so far, I give up way too many meatballs and wasn't seeing a lot of hit variety(probably coz my pitching wasn't great), and I switched back to classic, threw better, still got hit around and saw more hit variety and whatnot. Jury is still out on swing stick, i like it, but i just can't hit that well with it yet, but i am liking this year's game, can't wait to get home and play! = )

I feel stupid for asking but where is the option to change from stick hitting to classic. I would like to change and can't find it in the menu. Thanks!

Having just played the demo, the pitch system looks to be a great addition and certainly the way for all baseball games to go.

I would think the only way that anyone wouldn't use it is because they cant.

It certainly feels a lot better than pressing one button 2/3 times.

The swing stick 2.0 might as well be called the out stick. All you will do is hit slow grounders, and if by any chance you do hit it out of the infield it will usually will be a big pop up easily caught by the outfielders. Thats my experience on All star thus far.

The pitching and trhowing with the right stick actually work pretty well on the other hand.

The swing stick is also the way to go in baseball games it represents the swinging of the bat, much like Tiger Woods has the swinging of the club.

It needs worked on though, in which way i'm not sure though

I always ditch the swing stick. I've never seen what the big deal about it was. It is, after all, just an enlarged button. The way they use it, all they do is combine the traditional 2 buttons into a wonky stick.

Undecided on if I like or dislike this new pitching system. Games that use the right stick to do a lot of contextual things are great, but ones that use it just to be different.......well, I'm thinkful when they leave in classic controls.
