Swing Stick 2.0 vs Button Based Swing

Do you turn off Swing Stick 2.0 in favor of the button based swing a la MLB The Show?

Why do you prefer the "Classic" button based over the swing stick?

I miss MVP. Using that control adds a nice MVPness to the game.

Personally, I love the Swing stick and think there is a great hit variety this year.

Swing stick is interesting and i'm giving it a shot. I guess to hit balls to the corners you have to specifically point the stick to that corner when pushing up though.

I like it It'll be a challenge for me.

For those using classic button hitting this year, do you notice a slight delay from when you press the button to when your player swings? I noticed this in 2K7 and it made it really hard for me to hit using classic mode.

For now I'm going with swing stick 2.0 but I might try out the button hitting at some point. Just wanted to know if the delay in timing was gone.

Re: Swing Stick 2.0 vs Button Based Swing

I absolutely HATE Swing Stick 2.0...pushing all the way up every time just does not feel right. Now I love the regular swing stick it just feels more natural and you have the option to pull or push and to swing a power swing to sac fly etc... The variety of hits is much better this year too.

I must say again the 2.0 to me is a TERRIBLE inovation...they way over did it with change here.

Please 2k, if it aint broke don't fix it! They did not have to change every control scheme to make this game better. Now I love the new pitching it is awesome and I think in time I will love the total control throwing its just a matter of getting used to that damn stick..but I like it for the most part but they need to have more of a differential between a POWER laser throw and a LOB...there is no real difference right now that I have seen...its all about the accuracy.

I love the swing stick now that I have played 10 games with it, it feels like I am much more in control, if i am late it is because i didn't time it right, if i make a bad swing it is because i am too impatient, that being said I can't lay off pitches yet so it is still a work in progress but I opened up the flood gates last game at Oakland with a big 5 run outburst.

I guess the swing stick is ok, but I can't seem to not swing once I've pulled it back. I end up swinging at horrible pitches and looking stupid.

Thats my problem with it as well. I just can't get used to it.

Button swinging is actually pretty difficult this year. The timing has to be exact. I struck out a few times in one game, which I rarely do with the swing stick (usually I just spray weak grounders and popups around the diamond).

Re: Swing Stick 2.0 vs Button Based Swing

Just switched over the button hitting, which I used in 2K7. I just can't get into the swing stick and I like the results so far. I can influence flies or grounders much more easily with classic hitting, but need to get some more time with it to see about pulling and going the other way.

Finally had a good game using this, losing 5-4 to the Padres with LA. Hit a two run HR (none in 4 or 5 games with SS2.0) in the 9th off of Hoffman to almost come back. Now if I could only get the CPU to throw some balls, I could start to really enjoy the game. The CPU had 6 balls and 81 strikes for the game and I think I may have swung at only two or three out of the zone all game. And yes, I had the AI throw strikes all the way down and corners up...

I love the swing stick 2.0. I actually walked TWICE last game. Its also much easier to check swing this year.

How do you check swing with the swing stick 2.0? I can't for the life of me figure that out.

Does anyone have a set of tips or something they could list? I am several games deep, and against the CPU I'm constantly getting less than 5 hits a game. On top of that, I've only hit one HR.

Practice does make perfect though, and I am enticed, so I will not give up.
