    Pitching example in Powerpoint

If someone knows how to make this into falsh or something simpler, feel free to.

This is a very simple explanation of how to pitch in MLB2K in simple Powerpoint graphics.
Took me about 5 minutes to make so use it if you like. It might help those who are struggling to figure out when to push each direction and when to release the stick.

Just trying to help those who need it.

Still doesn't explain what the effectiveness meter does.

I am speculating a bit on this but my explantion for the pitching meters is like this

You have four facets to pitching. Your aim, Your speed or strength, your delivery and your accuracy.

The effectiveness essentially equates to delivery.

In this game you aim manually by aiming at the point you want the ball to break.

Then you have the physcial execution of the pitch. Thats the up-down, down-around way you make it a curve or fast ball. That is what makes effectiveness.

You then have the amount of time you hold the positions for the pitch and that determines strength. If you hold the button down on a fast ball until the meter goes green all the way, you'll get a very fast and had fast ball.

Then you have two things that depict accuracy, the second motion seems to partly effect delivery or effectiveness but also equates into part of teh accuracy.

The main part of accuracy is the release of the ball or letting go of the stick. The closer you are to the middle of the last circle of color the more accurate you will be. This seems to also determine accuracy on a verticle plane while the second motion seems to determine horizontal plane.

Hope that helps explain what I have observed from this game.

Then how do you explain the fact that a fastball thrown with full effectiveness has the same speed as one that's thrown with zero effectiveness?

The delivery is related to the ability for good contact. Though the fastball may be the same speed, a higher effective pitch is calculated as a pitch that is harder to hit. It looks the same, but higher effectiveness provides better results against batters. Make sense? It's just a way for the CPU to calculate how well the ball will be hit.

OK, now with runners on base how come you cannot control the effectiveness of the pitch? Like if i throw a fastball it does not show the back motion on the jester. Every pitch get maxed out.

im really glad to see theres alot of people with this problem(sorry to say) but im pretty sure it's a bug. To fix it you can either turn off precision pitching and then turn it back on...or just repeat your first motion twice(it takes practice) I think it's a huge bug and can't believe it got by 2k

Thanks man...That was real cool of you. It explains things a little better for me. I DL'd the demo last night and spent about an hour just pitching over and over.

I was able to strike batters out here and there w/ Beckett but I wasn't releasing the stick, and was getting hammered for it. There is a learning curve to this, but it is fun and intuitive. By the time I quit I was pitching pretty good. Th PowerPoint helps refresh what I learned on my own last night. Again...thanks.
