    Pitching from stretch/runners on

I saw this mentioned in the glitches thread, but it sounded like maybe it wasn't a glitch, but an intentional choice. I think it is a glitch, but that is beside the point. Could it be a case where it happens on a certain % of 360's? Wasn't that the case w/ freezing in 2k6?

Anyways, when throwing from the stretch, I can only throw with 100% effort. The ring starts to expand on my first movement (down in a fastball's case), but it never recognizes when I start my second gesture.

First thing I guess, does everybody else have to do some different when throwing from the stretch - this would have to be a BIG difference because I've tried everything. I've tried the first motion twice real quick, or not pressing all the way down, I've experimented with different situations - NODDA. If I can't throw from the stretch - well that one IS a gamekiller.

    Thanks for any help.

Pitching this year is something that you have to practice. You can't just pick it up and go. I gave up 17 runs to the White Sox in my first game because I couldn't pitch well from the stretch. In my last game, I only gave up 9 runs

Yeah, I think it's a glitch. I think it happens less on breaking balls though. But effectiveness has no effect on the pitch speed, so I don't think it's a game killer, or maybe that is a game killer in an of itself.

I should probably mention that I have the hang of it when I from the windup - not good albeit - but I can handle it. It just COMPLETELY changes once a man is on.

And it concerns me because, my pitcher tires quicker, and the more effort the harder it becomes to hit my spot.

        Thanks again.

I've started by going in the opposite direction from what I should and it actually works for me. If you normally start going to the left for a slider, try going to the right and see if that works for you. It looks to me like the control is reversed when you are in the stretch.

im having the same problem, i cant see how it is not a glitch, but at the same time i cant see how NO tester ever pitched with a man on base lol. I also have this problem with EVERY single reliever i bring in, regardless of men on base.

No it is not a glitch. I thought it was too but since I have practiced more I have got it down.

I can pitch fine from the stretch. Of course, i don't have the framerate issues either, or the Padres franchise bug...I guess i have a rare working version or something...

                      Re: Pitching from stretch/runners on

It doesn't seem to be a glitch b/c it's happening on too many copies. First, if you have "frame rate" issues log out of xbl/vip profile to kill the stutter (as outlined in fix frame rate post sticky). Second, from the stretch you pretty much have to get as close as possible with the second gesture to the inner line. I tried with and with out the xbl/vip profile, it is is very difficult to do while you have the stutter/it's on. Now, I would like to take more off pitches from the stretch and not have to turn the xbl/vip, but it seems this is the way it is. I didn't even think I had a frame rate issue (thought it just looked a bit jerky), but I tried the frame rate fix and it made a big difference in the pitching (just a visual timing issue). Also, here is something I wrote in another post.

"Yeah, this is what I have been talking about. I think that you just have to hit that inner line as close as possible. Too earlier and it's tough to control the point. Less skilled/experienced guys have a tighter window/allowance to hit that line. While more skilled/experienced guys have a large window/allowance. Example: On DET, Jason Grilli (less experienced/skilled) is difficult to get the hang of, while Todd Jones (more experienced/skilled) is much easier to get close to that inner line. Neither of them are great pitchers, but you can feel difference bringing one right in after the other. Some one suggested that you should jump into the pitching tutorial and get the feel for the pitcher right when he comes in. But I am sure that if you are playing a full season you'll know all your pitchers backward and forward. As a by-product (or direct intention) of this situation, it makes better relievers easier to bring in and not so good relievers more difficult. And this makes your starter all that more valuable to keep in the game and keep the stamina usage low.

Side Note: As long at you are hitting that inner line most of the game your starter should last 5-7 innings (normal). But this is only a brief observation and, of course, adjusting up the sliders will change this. It wasn't that hard for me to bring Kenny Rogers (hitting the line a good % of the time) into the 8th and he started to fall apart when his stamina level broke 35%."

                        Re: Pitching from stretch/runners on

So found a workaround, because yes, at least in my version it is a glitch - I am sure. HOWEVER, this only works for starting pitchers, still haven't been able to get anything to work with relievers. After the first man gets on base, go to Options, VIP, change the Pitch Interface to Pinpoint, then accept. Enter right back into VIP, and change back to Total Control, accept.

This worked for me to fix the problem I described, BUT ONLY w/ starters.

                        Sheesh.

This happens to me, but only when I don't start the second part of my gesture around the inner circle.

Well first that update that said remove all other controllers from the ports, i think that help a little bit.

I also noticed what you are saying, that it has be outside the green circle for the jester to get recognized, but still it doesn't work every time, it just seem to work more then trying to start the jester inside the green circle.

I don't know about you guys but I actually find it a lot easier to pitch from the stretch than the full wind up. I almost never throw a meat ball from the stretch, but I do it much more frequently from the full wind up.

Which is why I have been giving up quite a few solo homeruns but the AI rarely scores against me any other way. I just had a game where I had the bases loaded nobody out 2 singles and walk, I struck out the side with Matsuzaka. I ended up winning 6-4 against the Tigers, 3 on solo homeruns and one on a lead off double and 2 ground outs.

I'm starting to get the hang of pitching, at least on the current difficulty level. My first game I gave up 33 runs to the Yankees with Josh Beckett. Tonight I had one game where I pitched a complete game shutout of the Blue Jays with Jon Lester, with 14 strikeouts.
