i say that because i am absolutely horrible. i just can't use the right stick method. it's brutal. it's very immersive and fun if you get consistent with it, but it can be the most frustrating thing ever used in a sports game. i keep practicing with it and i keep giving up meatballs. the ball never goes where i want it to go. i can't throw most of the offspeed pitches. i just stink so bad. i don't want to use another method because that's taking the easy way out and i don't think the game is meant to be played any other way.

Have you tried the tutorial from the pause menu?
Also, don't throw every pitch at full strength.
Try this...
For a fastball, hold down for a moment and then move the stick up (2nd gesture) and hold it there until the clear circle gets completely big and starts to shrink again. Release it when the circle is at it's smallest point.

It only took one game for me to get good at it. I am playing on default pro so it's obviously easy but I gave up 1 run on 4 hits last game. Santana pitched 7 with 3 hits allowed and Wagner gave up a hit in the 9th. Their only run was a solo homer in the first inning. Just gotta get used to it.Comment

My first game I gave up like 11 before quitting because I had to leave. Now, in my last game, I did much better towards the middle until the end of throwing pitches very well (green).Comment

I will have to agree. At first I had the hardest problem with throwing curves and cursed the game it seemed since everytime i threw the pitch it was for a hit. Most likely or not a homerun.
Now its one of my best pitches and basically I am content with just a fastball, change, and curve without using anything else. Yeah it took about 2 innings to learn how to throw it and about 2 games to perfect it, but now its fun.
Especially working the count and then getting a guy striking out on a 10 pitch count and the last pitch being the only change up and he swings so early it hits in him the helmet for swinging so early. One of the best moments I seen on this from pitching.Comment

Keep on trying. I hated it for four games and on the fifth game, I magically got used to it and ever since, I've been having really good results. I still throw the occaisional bad pitch, but I also feel like I really earned a strike out when I get one.

Don't increase the pitch power beyond when you start to get the rumble, if you do, you get a much better pitch, but its a lot easier to miss your spot.
Secondly, with the exception of the fastballs and changeups, you have to ROTATE the right stick, not move it directly to the direction the pitch ends at.
If you want to get good quickly, use Musseina in the pitching tutorial from the pause menu in game, and practice knuckle-curves, as they are by far the hardest pitch to throw. He also has a good mix of pitches to practice with.Comment
