    Q*bert's Game-Tracking Thread

As I said in the 360 impressions thread, I'm going to play a bunch of exhibition games with different teams to help get a feel for the game. I'd like an easy way to keep some numbers for reference as I try to find some comfortable sliders/settings, so I'll be posting my results and the pertinent stats. Plus, doing this will in some small way help fill the void left by my NHL 08 dynasty that I was posting here which recently decided to start freezing after 70+ games and is apparently a goner.

If people want to read along and post or offer insights, feel free and please do. If you don't, please don't be offended by my board-cluttering. Thanks,

    Q

Game One -- OAK @ SEA* (user)

T-2ND: Just gave up a dinger to Jack Cust on a busted curve, but nearly robbed it with a wall climb... so close!

        T-3RD: Betancourt RBI 2B

        T-4TH: Scuffling a bit with Washburn, 23B-40S through 3.2IP w/ 2BB; men on 1st & 2nd with two outs... called strike 3 on a full count!
B-4TH: Crappy inning for me, 3 up 3 down on maybe 8 pitches.

T-5TH: Swinging strike three by Ellis on a high FB for the 3rd out! Gotta watch my pitch count (29B-50S, 5IP)

T-6TH: HR by Emil Brown on a 2-seamer that got too much of the plate. Give up another single, but escape unscathed. Wash is probably done at 92 pitches and a few righties coming up...
B-6TH: Ibanez would be sitting out the next game if this were a franchise as he just lollygagged it to 2nd and didn't even try to break up the DP.

T-7TH: Washburn is done after giving up a leadoff single to Barton (LH). Final line is 32B-62S (66%). In comes Sean White, a crummy RH MR as far as I can tell. Seattle's bullpen is weak other than Putz... RBI double by Crosby scores Barton from 1st. Gotta hurry a lefty for Chavez and Cust, Sean O'Flaherty gets the nod, yeesh... But he gets Chavez to ground to short.
B-7TH: Two singles has Ichiro up with men on 1st & 2nd w/ 2 outs. A's pull Blanton (6.2IP, 6H, 6K, 14B-60S for 81%) and bring in Emree, a lefty, to face Ichiro. He hits it hard, but right at the CF.

T-8TH: 1-2-3 by O'Flaherty. Good work, kid. Now hit the showers...
B-8TH: Leadoff double by Lopez chases Emree, replaced by Calero... Vidro knocks in Lopez w/ 1B. They bring in Devine. I thought LaRussa was in STL? DP and ground-out end the inning.

T-9TH: Morrow shuts 'em down 1-2-3. Here comes Huston Street...
B-9TH: Sexson leads off... and flies to center. Johjima lines to 2nd on a 3-2 pitch (1st full count for me). This is it two down... and Jeremy Reed pops up to the catcher. A 3-2 loss...

        OAK --- 3R - 8H - 0E
        SEA* --- 2R - 8H -1E

Total Pitching Stats: OAK 17B-78S for 82% and SEA 41B-80S for 66%
Batting Stats: 6Ks for each team, I walked them twice. OAK had 2 2B and 2 HR, SEA had 3 2B.

Another close game for me that ends in a loss. That's all for now as the wife is home and she is about to about her birthday present (80GB IPod)...

Will also be following. I think I have a decent set of Custom All-Stars Sliders. Need to play some more games. Hoping to get about 5-6 games in tonight.. If I get some more good stats I'll post them in the Slider Section

I don't know exactly how you are going to communicate the sliders considering there are now no numbers.

Qbert, your NHL 08 penguins dynasty was the best i've ever seen! I will definitely be following your thread.

It will be a royal pain-in-the-a**. We'll have to set them to zero or 100 and count each tick from there and write them down as we go. It would all be worth it if I could get realistic pitch counts/splits by the AI. That's the only thing I'm not digging with the game right now. My pitching results are about spot-on and I think my hitting will come around eventually...

NHL 08 is the same way, they are expressed as 3 (for three clicks from 0). not too hard

Ya, that's what I was thinking but for some people that could become pretty confusing I would imagine.

Thanks, man! I haven't given up all hope that I might be able to salvage it. I figure I'll give it a week or two while I break in 2K8, then try her again. It was a lot of fun for me. Who knows, depending on my work situation, maybe I'll do an MLB franchise. It would be a TON of work though; maybe just series recaps and features would be OK, but that would take some of the fun out of it for me...
