Is it worth $60?

please give me your honest answer to this guys. I'm just really on the fence right now between some good things ive been reading and a ton of negative things ive been readings. I just need an honest opinion from the gamers themselves. Is this game worth the 60 bucks?

Because, frankly, I don't know if any game is worth 60 dollars. I sure don't buy games because they are games, I buy games because of my needs and my wants, and then I lie to myself and pretend like it was a wise choice.

The only way anyone could hope to help you here is for you to tell us your needs and your wants and your condition, and then we could tell you if the game matches that.

Anything less you can get by scoping through the thousands of opinions already present. In fact, that's probably still the best way.

I don't think any sports game, aside from maybe Choops, is worth $60. In fact, not many games period are worth $60.

Relatively speaking however, I'd say if you are willing to pay $60 for a game, this would be a game to do it on.

If you paid $60 for 2k7 then 2k8 is diffinetly worth $60 again, of course I really like the game.

i mean is this a good enough baseball game to warrant me shelling out 60 bucks? Or should i just save my money and be pissed that i didnt buy a ps3 so that i could have mlb 08? Does mlb 2k8 ultimately dilever a quality game of baseball with a good franchise mode to boot?

Probably not. That's why I traded in a couple games for it at GameStop. I was bored of both Call of Duty 4 and Madden 2008 so I traded them in for MLB 2K8. GameStop currently is giving $10 bucks more of in-store credit when you trade in two Xbox 360 or PS3 games. I got $30 for Call of Duty 4, $17 for Madden 2008, plus the extra $10 dollars of bonus credit. I only had to throw in like three bucks more for MLB 2K8.

As far as the game goes, the hitting is still shaky because the computer tees off on you with every pitching mistake but it is hard for you to hit when you are up to bat. The new pitching interface is kind of lame so I switched it back to last year's version which I like. The fielding is amazing though -- the best since MVP Baseball 2005 -- and this is probably better. The great thing about this game is that you can tweak all of the interfaces, options, and sliders so eventually you can get a decent simulation game of baseball going.

I would say that most of the reviews for this game are spot on...

One thing you can be certain of is that MLB 2K8 will not completely quench your thirst for the definitive baseball game experience. But as long as you remember that no game will ever satisfy this desire, you should be able to see past the flaws and appreciate the game for what it is.

Also, I highly recommend AVOIDING the bugs and glitches thread. The fastest way to second guess your economic decision is to bury yourself in a thread that only highlights the negative.

Again no game is worth $60 backs, but since they charge that, 2k8 is not worth the money at all. It should be 20 bucks like it youst to be. I had 2k8 and returned it the next day. I'll keep my copy of 2k7 because I think that is a way better game, but if you want a true baseball experience try 08 the show, that is how real baseball is played.

2K is not worth a rent rate of $3.00 let alone $60. i know alot of you disagree and that is your choice. I used to be a big fan, until I played The Show, so this is IMO.

For me it's well worth 60 bones and i haven't played the retail version yet. See for me I just equate it to this. I can spend that 60 bucks in a bar f'ing up my liver with beer and booze OR I can buy this game and stay out of said bars for a good while thus saving subsequent 60 bone visits to the bar for a while since I'll be playing games instead and maybe pickup a six pack in between. So it's all what you value. Try it like this, is there another vice in your life that you are willing to give up for a while to play this game that would come out to 60 dollars?

Now don't get me wrong. Most of us here aren't so broke that it's either this game or food but you have to make priorities within yourself. Mine is game or booze. I can easily do both but I've put on myself it's either game or drinks.

buy 2K7 cheap or hell, 2K5 if its backwards compatiable. Then update the rosters. It will be as much fun, but you wont feel bad for wasting tons of money.


btw...some games are worth $60...i paid $160 for Rockband and it was one of the best investments ever, I cant tell you how many Rockband parties i have already had. However, this is not the case. My waring however, willl be to NEVER play the Show if you arent goig to get it...you will never find ANY of the baseball games of the last 4 years acceptable.

Also read the bug thread and ask yourself "Could I live with that and feel good for shelling out my $60 on a game that has all these bugs and problems"

I was disappointed for about 24 hours. Since then, I haven't had any bad feelings. Worth sixty bucks? I spent sixty bucks at the bar the other night. Sure it's worth it.
