Having trouble differentiating the motions of slider and curves.

Anybody else finding it hard to get the game to differentiate between a slider and a curve? I was pitching with Peavy yesterday and was having trouble throwing the slider when I wanted to.

The slider motion starks at the west(left, for RHP) of the right analog stick and comes around the bottom in a counter-clockwise motion, stopping in the east of the right analog. While the curve starts at the southwest(bottom-left, for RHP) at the right analog and also comes around the bottom in a counter-clockwise motion, stopping around the northeast of the right analog. Note that the "last gesture" diagram was identical to the slider motion, so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

Anybody have any tips to execute pitches with similar motions?

I haven't seen this MC. How fast are you making the motion for the 2 pitches? I would try to slow it down a tad. That helps me when I start to throw bad pitches. If that doesn't work, maybe the analog stick is faulty. Did you try a different controller?

Yeah, I don't really see that either. Yes, they're similar, but they're still distinctly different: curves start around 8 o'clock and finish at 11 o'clock; sliders start at 9 o'clock and finish at 2 o'clock (RHPs). You just have to be conscious of the fact that it's very sensitive.

And I've almost given up on looking at the feedback. It's wrong a lot. Just today I saw it where the graphic was showing I was PERFECT, and yet my score was only 44%. Whatever.

MC, lower the Total Control Pitching Slider. The lower you go, the easier it is to complete the motion.

Hmm, maybe I was doing it to fast. I'll test it out later and try and be a little more precise.

Also, don't overlook how you're holding the controller. I've noticed that sometimes when I think I'm being precise (when throwing a fastball, for example) I'm actually more in between 11 & 12 and 6 and 5 (respectively) because of how the controller is positioned in my hands. That is, if you really want to be accurate, actually looking at the controller once in a while to properly align things can be pivotal. (Which I think kind of sucks, btw.)

This has happened for me when I rush a little. If I slow things down and really focus it won't happen. If I really concentrate on the motion and slow things down it will help. I think the pitching is pretty cool because it's a lot like real life in the sense that pitchers do make mistakes when they "over think". When they just go out there and throw the ball they seem to really be in a flow and have good stuff. It really is pretty natural in the game too. Once I start thinking too much and trying to be too perfect it seems like my gesture scores go down.

To alleviate this problem though I think it would be nice for next year you pick the type of pitch with a face button first and then do the motion this way you are definetley throwing a slider and you have to execute the motion. A bad slider should never turn into a good curve LOL. I have a problem with cut fastballs. I end up throwing cutters a lot when I am trying a 4seam fastball. This definetley discourages me. I am horrible at the 4seam fastball and changeup. I have no idea why but I can't seem to get it down.
