Help me enjoy this game
I love the pitching in this game and the controls, however the hitting game is making me want to sell this game off. I've been playing with different sliders found on this site, (all star modes) and even on Pro, I'm having difficulty getting hits. I don't want it to be one sided, but flying out or grounding out 95% of the time is getting hold really quick.
So what are some tips, what sliders should I change?Tags: None -

Contact and hit quality. Possibly lower the pitch speed and the pitcher difficulty ones also. I'm still working on getting hits though, seeing I still have very low BA after a decent number of games.
Still split on what style hitting I like too. What are you using?I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Re: Help me enjoy this game
I don't know what type of hitting you use (swing stick/classic). It's not necessarily sliders. I use classic and one day hitting just clicked for me.
The main thing that made me a better hitter was looking for the right pitch to hit. At first I used to swing at a lot of high fastballs (they looked like strikes to me) resulting in a pop up every time. I can recognize those pitches now and I don't swing at them.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a silver slugger. But, it does make a difference. Low pitches are ground outs and high pitches are usually pop flys. Once you are able to recognize location. It makes a big difference.PSN: PhiNuPi

Yeah being patient usually helps. I kinda throw that out the window towards the end of games though.I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Re: Help me enjoy this game
I know it's going to sound silly, but try playing the home run derby. It allows you practice your step and swing timing over and over again without having to play in the field or worry about base running.
I use swing stick 2.0 and I struggled with hitting. I was slowly getting better at it but then I gave the home run derby a try and my next two games were two of my best at the plate. One game, I even hit three home runs with three different players, including a sweet three-run jack with Adam Dunn that curved behind the foul pole.Lux y VeritasComment

Agreed, also look at the spin of the ball. You can actually recognize pitches with 60fps. Lay off the sinkers unless they are up, and consider letting most slow pitches go if they look low. Your best bet is to look for a fastball in the middle of the zone or a high breaking ball.
Earlier today I played with the Angels. Vlad got a fastball inside. My eyes were HUGE. I knew if I could turn on it, it would be toast. Sure enough I launched it. I don't hit very many homers, but when I do hit them, I can pretty much tell even before I hit the ball if it's going out based on the pitch and location.PSN: PhiNuPi

Re: Help me enjoy this game
I can't hit for squat. SS, SS 2.0, Classic, you name it, can't hit it. All I do is pop the ball up to the outfield or to the catcher. It's really frustrating. When I first got the game I played on "Pro" and I would get 10-15 hits a game, moved up to "All-Star" and I'll get 1 run and 4 hits a game if I'm lucky. I know I should mess with the sliders, which I did and got mixed results. I swear if I see one more lazy fly ball I'm gonna flip my sh*t. I watch replays of my swings, and it LOOKS as if I'm right on the ball timing wise, but the bat angles up for an uppercut swing. Why is this? even if I'm playing with SS 2.0.2006 - present, NY Mets Season Ticket HolderComment

Re: Help me enjoy this game
One thing I suggest is use the zoom features for the batting view - it lowers the camera and it makes it easier to read ball or strike. I also think it helps your timing. Now if you just hack away it won't really matter but if you show soem patience it shoudl help quite a bit."It's a dog-eat-dog world and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear."

Re: Help me enjoy this game
Well, i here alot of people still having problems with the hit stick and its a shame cause I think its great and feels total MVP. I had a little trouble in the beginning but know it works and feels like you earned the hit.
Here is things i do that might help you out with your hitting
1) Be some what patient, have to be able to hit strikes if your make contact with balls most likely your going to pop up and ground out.
2) Use the back button properly if you pull back to early you will hit the ball weaker.
3) And the most important thing is go with the pitch, if the ball is low and away swing low and away. If it is Up and away use the swing stick to push that ball in that dirrection. If you swing and try to pull balls, like trying to push a inside pitch opposite way, it might work but more then likely it will not.
Hope that helped a little.Comment
