Forget the framerate..patch the CPU steal issue?

The workarounds to fix the choppiness is fine with me but what I can't live with in a baseball game in 2008 is that the AI has not attempted 1 and I mean ONE steal on me in say 20+ games...and yes I have the Slider at 100.

Stealing to me as one of the most important things in the game of baseball. Getting runners in scoring possision wins games. How in the world this game can be released with this is incredible to me..I mean it was there last year? Not seeing the AI try to steal is like they are not trying to me. I never have to hold a runner or even worry about it and that to me is not baseball period...hell whats the point of the pitching outa the stretch animation?

This is BY FAR the worst issue of the game cause its a gameplay issue...I have no problems with the rest of the game at all and I do like it...but this KILLS it for me. Thoughts?

is the CPU winning? I remember the AI stole second on me in a rare tight game. but usually they can just get all their bases just by hitting. unfortunately for me.

Could be you will need to edit some baserunning/stealing ratings, which is also the case with that other game.

Have you tried setting up a situation mode game where you're pitching, CPU runner on first (someone fast), late innings, and you're up by 1 run. Then pitch balls top the batter who is up and see if the guy on first tries to steal. If the CPU doesn't steal in that situation, then editing is probably the next step.

I have absolutely no framerate issues with the game on my standard TV, BTW. Hurray for last century technology!

You actually saw the cpu try to steal? Okay thats promising but I find it hard to believe...what is your slider set at? in my last 12 games I never even attempted a pickoff...have had FAST runners on first..again never even tried to keep him close and was winning in the game and have not seen it guy..not once.

That "other game" CPU steals on me all the time...What's the issue with the "other" game?

I had Ken Griffey Jr try to steal 2nd with two outs on me last night. It was a close game

I've played two games in Franchise Mode (All-Pro with no changes to sliders) and the CPU tried to steal second in a tied ballgame between the A's and Red Sox.

Well you guys are seeing something I am not. Point I'm trying to make is that with the slider at 100 it damn near better be every time a fast runner is on in the right situation every-time. The slider just simply does nothing...go figure!

So to guys that are seeing the cpu try to steal what do you have the slider set at? It still is no-where near as frequest as it should be.

Maybe I ewill look up the MLB average steals per game.

The Tigers stole four bases off of me in the first four innings in that "other" game.

2K has had sliders in that past that were accidentally reverse-programmed. Check that.

I actually just had a CPU steal attempt. I was the Indians in Baltimore, led 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th. With 2 outs, Jay Payton tried to steal second. Victor set him down!!

I've probably played at least 25 games and that was the first attempt. Setting at default.

I will be. Question...do your slider setting work in situation mode for testing as someone pointed out to try?

Haven't seen that at all. In fact, most times it's my fault because I lose track of holding the guy at 1st base. That four steal breakout was the first and only of it's kind I've seen.

And I think I'm having about a 30% success rate in throwing out runners.
