    Total Control Pitching

I wish I understood total control pitching. Is there a video somewhere to explain it? Now don't jump on me too bad I am 44 years old and these sports games get complex as the years go by.

      Re: Total Control Pitching

I hate to admit it, but I never once used the tutorial and had it down after a few pitches...probably because I listened to so many people explain it on here that I had a good understanding going into it.

There are three steps to each pitch

      1) Effort
      2) Gesture
      3) Release

Every pitch shows two arrows going in different directions. These arrows are numbered 1 (first) and 2 (second).

      1) Effort-Press/pull the R-stick in the direction of your first arrow. For a fastball, this would be straight back. When you do this, press and hold the stick in that direction until the circle expands to the level of effort your want to throw with.

      2) Gesture-Once you load up on effort to your desired level, move the stick in the direction of arrow 2 as smoothly as possible. If it is a fastball, you would then flick the stick straight forward. Again, hold it. The circle will expand to it's limit and then start to contract. (In other words, if you pick to throw a pitch with little effort, the meter will still run it's course from big to small).

      3) The release-Depending on how much effort you use, the final circle (your location/execution) will get smaller. As the circle shrinks, you want to then release the stick when it is in the middle of the circle. With max effort, you will have to be very exact and with less effort, you have more room.

      Some key points.

      - The circle will always expand to it's max and contract to it's minimul regardless of your effort and timing. When you throw a pitch low effort, it will but a mark to show you were your effort is at, but the circle will continue to run it's natural course.

-Because of this, the time between your first motion and last motion should be the same regardless of the pitch type and effort. What happens in between will change.

      Example of a fastball:
      1) Pull Back and hold until you reach desired effort
      2) Once effort is achieved, press forward and hold as circle shrinks back to middle
      3) Release stick when circle shrinks to be within the smallest middle circle.

Example of a slider (right handed pitcher)
      1) Press the stick to the left and hold until you reach desired effort.
      2) Once effort is achieved. make a counter clockwise motion with stick from 9 o clock (original position) to 3 o clock. And hold the circle until the meter shrinks towards the center.
      3) Release the stick when the circle shrinks to be within the smallest middle circle.

      Hope that help some.

Also, things get all crazy when pitching from the stretch. Apperantly you have to release it on the inner most circle of the two outside circles.

          Re: Total Control Pitching

I really like the total control pitching also. I do turn off the visual though so it's just the catcher giving signs. Makes it more "real" and cleans up the screen.
