    Pitching question re: the catcher

    hey guys

do you know how to shake off a specific PITCh the catcher is calling?

i'm 1-1 in my mariners dynasty but in my lost game i blew a 3 run lead as my catcher kept asking for a curve which at the time i just could not for the life of me throw or a slider down and in which for me OFTEN means a hit batter (i just cant control my slider at all!)

i read you can just pitch another ball even though he's asking a certain pitch but i tend to give up meatballs doing this? is it a coincidence? i don't know?

ONE way i've found around this only works if there's a runner on base, simple HOLD L2 and then try to pick off the runner, just slightly in the green as you don't want to over throw it and when you pitcher returns to the pitch the catch will have either a completely new location and pitch or just location if the latter just again try the pick off and once you return like before its changed.

but if there's noone on you can't do this, so is there another way or a specific button to press?

    finally another pitching question..

how do i change the catchers target so that HE suggests another location not myself.

what i mean is if my catcher was a curve up and in and i REALLY don't wanan be doing that if i press X the change location button he suggests where ever i've got the ball placed. So he's not giving me a new suggestion he's just following where i'm holiding the ball cursor. Dont get me wrong often i change what he says and take control but when the CPU is starting to read my plays and pitching sequences or like in the problem above where i can't change the suggested pitch i kind of what a guide of where the CATCHER wants it if i dont like his first suggestion.

i hope thats clear to understand ANY suggestions are apppreciated.

To change location, I think all you have to do is move the target to where you want him to set up and press A. I think if you press the L trigger while you do this, he will set up slightly outside of the zone.

I'm not sure how to change the pitch type...I usually just throw what I want.

As far as I know you can't shake off pitches.

on the 360, you can click down the left stick to shake off the catcher. I think the catcher sets up in a different location then, but the pitch selection stays the same. I found this out by just looking at the controller layout in a game i paused.

So you really can't do what the OP is talking about. I kinda figured that. Sucks.

Re: Pitching question re: the catcher

thanks for the initial bump i've posted this problem on a few threads and it appears that you can't have the pitcher suggest a different pitch or location, i'll try the L3 suggestion but if he sticks to the same pitch type what's the point right?

it just seems if my catcher wants a Heater low and awy and i then change the location to inside and throw a change i swear i tend to get jacked or give up a big hit, its either entirely coincidental that i meatpitch when changing the location and pitch or i'm just a terrible pitcher

Doesn't really matter. If you don't want to throw the slider, throw something else. I don't think it matters what the catcher is calling for.

That's what I do. I usually throw before my catcher's even set up. On the payoff pitch, if I don't like the location, I just click the right stick.
