Thats interesting you turned off the indicator for pitching.. I might try that just to see how it goes.
Hey bro....just thought I'd check to see if you're having better luck with the hitting.

Sup guys the more i play this game the more i realize the step timing is everything in getting solid hits... So heres something i think will help everyone,, Whenever a new pitcher comes into the game take the first pitch and after that pause the game and watch the replay... Zoom in on the pitcher and watch his windup and right before he is about to release the pitch look where his front foot is.. Now when you goto back into the game to hit just watch his feet so you know when to time your step.. Its working pretty good for me so far

I switched to classic hitting. Its much easier to get more accurate pitch counts. You can differentiate balls and strikes much easier. I know for me, once I pull back on the swing stick, its very hard for me not to finish the swing. No matter how much I practice, I just can't get it. On classic hitting, I am really able to work the count. I've been getting a similar number of hits on allstar with classic as I did on Pro with the hit stick, but honestly, either way, I have the worst offense in baseball with the Giants. I don't have a single player in my lineup with contact or power above the 75 mark, so I realize I won't be killing the ball.

I just can't do the classic hitting. Its too simple. If it was zone hitting like Highheats or The Shows.. then I would give it a try. I am not a fan of either swing stick method in 2k8 but I like that its more interactive.

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??

It does'nt sound like many understand the new stick. It is completely different than the old one.

                    It is 3 Steps.

                    3

You might have noticed that you get a double step feedback message sometimes?

You need to Step as per usual and then release/back to neutral , then swing. No longer one motion back and wait then swing.

                    Step
                    release
                    swing

You can park the ball exactly where you want it everytime once you get it down. You can hit the old way too but it is mostly just dumb luck if it works and mostly get weak hits. Use the new stick with 3 motions and you will begin to drive the ball precisely where you push the stick and with power.

It can almost still feel as one fluid motion once you get the hang of it, if you do it quick enough just flick for the step and push the bat on the pitch.

Why else did you think it was called 2.0? Would have been nice of them to mention this but it is entirely new system regardless.

                    Step
                    Neutral
                    Swing

                    Good Luck

Wow...is this correct? I did not know this...I have basically been pulling it back and then pushing forward as the pitch arrives. Maybe this is why I can't check my swing. So, the final motion should be taking the stick all the way from neutral to the all the way forward position, correct?

I've been hitting the same as you. I was completely unaware of this information. Reading it again....for some reason it sounds awkward to me
Let me see if I understand this....
1-Pull stick back -for step timing
                          2-release to neutral
                          3-swing when pitch arrives?

Does that sound right? It seem like an awful lot to do before the pitch gets there. It also seems like there will be alot of "late" to "very late" swing notifications.
I'll give this a shot in hr derby tonight though..It definitely sounds interesting.

yeah just like frago explained. more of a 3 step process instead of 2 steps like the game explains it. it feels a lot better. i'm playing the demo and it was like taking batting practice. i definitely hit the ball with a lot more authority and with greater variety.
