    Not excusing the glitches but..

How would you rate this game if they fix the technical flaws like the slowdown and freezing glitches and stuff? IT seems to me these things can be easily fixed and dont take away from the core gameplay.

I really liked 2k7 and it was a step in the right direction. I just thought the batting, pitching and baserunning, fielding engine could be tweaked a bit to make it more realistic. From everything i've read, it seems like this is what 2k tried to improve on. So would I enjoy this game? I'm not excusing the technical issues but if they are resolved how is this game rated gameplay wise? Having a 360 this is the only baseball game availableand i'd like to give it a shot, but not sure if it's worth it.

I also wish they updated the graphics and cutscenes and commentary. It looks and sounds just like 2k7, from what I've seen, which is disapointing. But that I can live with I guess. Gameplay, fun factor, and realistic stats is what is most important to me. If they fix the technical problems will I enjoy this game?

This game is love-it or hate-it. Honestly. There's no middle road with this game. If you could rent-it I say do that 1st. The Game Play is solid. The bestTHIS series has seen a long time. This includes Player Animations.

As you said the Presentation is way behind the competition when it comes to authenticity & continuity. The graphics have taken a slight hit & for some reason it seems like they have either toned down or are using a NEW Lighting Engine trying to achieve 60fps which personally I could careless about. I would take a steady & fluid 30fps, then an un-steady 60fps any day..

All & All for me this game plays a better game of baseball, than it's given credit for. It's unfortunate that it was shipped they it was.. @ minimum give it a rent

I would say yes, it is a good game. I barely even notice the framerate issues 90% of the time. Yes there are stutters on occasion but most occur with the end of game highlights - which is unwatchable, btw. There is a fix on here for the framerate issue, but I don't worry about it.

The new pitching mechanic is fun and so is the fielding. I really like swing stick 2.0 compared to 1.0 - which I didn't use last year.

I do think that the graphics aren't quite as good but it's not like it looks last gen or anything. I saw some people complain about the grass color and such, I just lowered the color settign on my TV a bit and it looks good.

I haven't played enough games to tell you if the stats are accurate, but I've seen games with 0-14 runs and 2-20 hits per team so if is very varied and feels right.

I'd give it a 7/10 without the frame rate issue. Most that give it higher score don't have nothing to compare the game to except MBL 2k7.

I have zero framerate problems - not one single instance of slowdown. As for the gameplay: It's better than last year by a good margin, but some of the sliders either don't work at all or are close to ineffective. That's the biggest issue for me, other than the game is also flyball-happy. Fix all that and I would buy the game in a heartbeat because I actually enjoyed the gameplay and playing the game after a few days with my rental copy.

I think if they just threw the new interfaces and animations on last years graphics, people wouldnt have bashed this game so hard when it was released. Its funny how over the years people always say true sim people only care about the gameplay and not the graphics, but im not seeing that here. The gameplay is EXTREMELY solid. The steps back in other places is what killed this game's release.

I actually think the game is somewhat decent. It is a nice change a pace for me from the Show. The presentation needs a serious upgrade! I think I would like it even better if I knew how to pitch, still can't figure it out. The tutorial sucks, I just need to see it done properly once to know how to do it.

i think that tutorial isnt that good either. I think people are trying to throw a maxed out pitch everytime. Once i realized that i could start the second motion earlier which makes the green target bigger i had much more control. When im throwin bait pitched i just make sure i can control it and save the maxed out pitches for when i really need them.

Thats an interesting take on things since the series itself has been terrible 2k4 through 2k6...Improved and playable = 2k7 and downright deplorable in 2k8. The last time 2k was decent was when it was called WSB.

Now all that being said...if they fixed every major problematic area with this game and we were only left with the 2k trademark OLD GEN VISUALS I'd have to say this game would rate IMO no higher than a 7.0...I say that because I'm pretty tired of seeing 2k next gen games look no better than 2k games we had on Xbox.

But in its current state with all things considered regarding this series I'd give it a 4.5 to 5.8 seeing how the framerate overwhelms anyone who is used to 60 fps and smooth gameplay...and the fact that it looks worse than a game that just a year ago was 2K's best LOOKING game..The backwards spiral is problematic and unacceptable for me...Final Thought...2k8 = 5.2

Wow...you've come 180 on this game. I remember reading your first impression and you weren't impressed to say the least It's funny, because I didn't expect much at ALL from this game after reading the impressions on here so I was really pleasantly surprised. After playing it for a week and a half, I'm loving it. If the CPU steal issue wasn't there I'd call the gameplay almost perfect (I too have no framerate issues).

It's a bit strange for me, yes. I usually hate a game, and never play it again. And I even often return the rental the next day. But I kept giving 2K8 a chance, and it grew on me after a few hours.

But again, like I said, the gameplay IMO is for all intents and purposes is broken. Playing it for 3-4 days, and testing sliders and players ratings, showed me there are serious programming issues. The steal sliders don't work; the throw strikes sliders don't work; the power sliders barely a make a difference, which results in way too many fly balls and HR's. And lowering players' power ratings to 0 makes little difference as far as helping with the too many fly balls in the game.

As much as I like the game in many ways, I won't be buying it. And I couldn't recommend it to anyone unless those issues were somehow fixed.
