why do some songs not rip onto the hard drive?

When I put the cd into the 360 and i press "rip cd," it only rips some songs and it says some songs could not be supported. Does anybody know what this means?

Re: why do some songs not rip onto the hard drive?

i had the issue when i tried to rip a cd with like 44 songs on it basically it ripped half the cd then i just kept going back and ripping the songs with errors. eventually i got it down to 8 songs and they just would not rip at all. i modified the songs( cut them down) in an editing program and each song had a box pop up when i editede it ot was like check most compatible or better quality something like that i just changed the setting from what it was on default to te other 1, burned those songs to another cd and ripped all 8 on first attempt. i dont know if your in a similar situation but thats how i worked around my issue.

Check file extensions. I'm assuming it can only handle mp3s or something of that sort.
