MLB 2K10 (and beyond) Dream List

I’m not expecting big changes to 2K9. 2K8 needs a lot of polish and has tons of minor nuances, distractions, errors, problems and glitches that need the bulk of attention.

Because of that, I’m looking at 2K10 before we see any drastic changes or additions to the series.

Here goes my initial Dream List…feel free to add to it.

    1) A copy cat of MLB 2008’s “Road to the Show”. I’ve never played the game, but absolutely love this idea. It is great in many ways. It offers a variation to the typical 9-inning baseball game. It is something that could be played along side a franchise. It allows the user to actually play through a player’s career and generate stats and chase records.
    2) Create a Team. Here we are in 2008, damn near 20 years post Baseball Stars, and we don’t have a create-a-team feature. Basketball games have it, football games have it…why not baseball? We should be able to personalize everything (city, state, mascot, colors, stadium type, etc.)
    3) Expansion Mode in Franchise. Similar to #2, it would be awesome to start a franchise in an expansion year and create a team from scratch.
    4) Relocation in Franchise Mode: You could be able to relocate a failing franchise to a different city. Similar to expansion in the fact that you would have new uni’s, colors, stadiums, etc, but would keep your roster.
    5) Create a stadium. I could go on for days about this topic, but use your imagination. Don’t go the MVP route of starting with a small stadium and adding to it…it’s not realistic at all.
    6) Enhanced GM mode: Arbitration, Rule 5 drafts, 40-man rosters in September, etc.
    7) Actual Spring Training-This would be a neat little twist to play games in the Spring in smaller stadiums, with different uniforms with huge rosters.
    8) Spring Training Drills-Instead of having the computer generate increases and decreases. A series of trainings (mini games) could be used to improve certain traits of certain players. Long Toss to improve arm strength, BP to improve contact/power, running drills to improve speed, fielding and throwing drills to improve defense.
    9) Re-do the Presentation from the top down. Hopefully 2K9 will have new announcers, but everything about the presentation needs to be redone. The cut scenes are old and boring. The fans involvement is rarely on key. New sounds need to be recorded for big games and playoff games to really capture the atmosphere of these games
    10) I would like to see the inclusion of a “catch” button defense. The inclusion of the new pitching system and hitting system have arguably increased the user input (though swing is arguably easier because of the lack of a direction needed). I think it’s time to do the same for defense. Catching a ball should require more than running into the ball.

Feel free to add to it.

Beating the dead horse, but the sad thing is most of this stuff was in previous versions of this or other baseball games (1,2,3,4,7,8 off the top of my head).

I don't get why we must go back before we can go forward.
I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.

For some reason...next gen means stip down the games, take away most of the features and 4-5 years later, you will be were you were on the previous system.

I'm just wondering if they'll really call it 2K10. That just looks stupid. Maybe they'll go with a Roman numeral and call it 2KX.

I guess since they're going with right-analog stick throwing, it's probably too late to incorporate Pro Control Defense, no?

Trev...good ideas as usual. I would like either game to have these features...personally i think that 2K10 is being optomistic for these featues in this series...they have a few things to work on first, but i wont get into that. Here are some other features that would be good in any next gen baseball game.

            1. National Teams (DR team, Team USA, Team Japan etc)

            2. How about a sandlot game...similar to streetball game in 2K8 where its a pick up game.

            3. batting practice pre-game.

            4. Expand on legends. (All decade teams, or historic teams with real players or at least real stats.)

            5. 2k in particular should steal RTTS and Rivalry from the Show
            5.

The answer is simple for 2010.

If 2K9 flops, reboot the baseball franchise.

              EDIT:
Among other things, hopefully by the time 2010 rolls out, it will be too soon to realize the importance of community involvement to help improve their game. Look at MLB 08 for reference and how frequent those guys who help develop the game post

again, i really dont think there will be 2k10, take 2 will be long gone by then. even so, sports games arent adding enough for there to be THAT much of a difference between an 08 game and a 10 game.

I agree with all of your guys ideas and stuff, but i think a major thing that hasnt really been stressed yet is that the commentation needs to be revised. i hear things like "he dove like he was shot out of a cannon" and "santa maria". i mean, come on! cant we get some real commentating in here. like harry kalas or someone. that's all i have to say

I think that mlb2k9 has alot of changes for next year game.
                        1. Fix the pictures like for example cc sabathia picture is showing he is on the clevland indians but he on the yankees not good
                        2. When you send players to the minors and recalled them up it takes time for their hair to grow back
                        3. When i first got it it froze and i got it to work because their was a error in the game and i had to keep returning it make it right
                        4. 40 Man Roster, rule 5 draft, better free agents after you complte a season insted of what was left of the previous fa
                        5. Relastic throwing and gameplay
                        6. Mascotts and mange your team like in the show buy them a bus or plane and give fans promotions
                        7. national anthem and player intoduction by the game announcer
                        8. This hurt me in my franschise the flyball in the outfield and im in the circle and for some reason the ball would go over of head
                        9. I think the show is better than 2k9 this year and they need to take their time on the game it doesn't need to be release the first week of march just before the season starts to make their changes

It would be nice if 2k would listen to what we want in a game. Also it would be nice if the developers came on here and interacted with us to make a great baseball game. Look at what ea and scea are doing with the community interaction. When you do that it pays of because you make a good game and have a lot less people going to play the competitors game. I even go on the 2k boards every once and a while and they have a feedback forum, but the developers don't interact with the forum members. Just interacting with us would make a huge difference.

MLB 2k9 was a joke!!! I think it was the worst baseball game they have made. They need to be more like MLB The Show. That is a way more realistic game and the graphics are sooo much better.

                            Things to fix/add for 2k10

                            1) Rookie Mode. Just playing with your created guy. That would be a big hit for 2k10 (base it off what MLB The Show has)
                            2) Fix Homerun Derby. That wasn't fun at all because it was way to easy to hit home runs. I didn't enjoy it
                            3) Make a tournament mode like there was in 2k8. That would allow a group of people to play
                            4) Online you should be able to use the Classic Controls
                            5) Fix the graphics. They just don't look real
                            6) When you update the rosters everyday, i think that stats should be updated too.
                            7) Be allowed to argue calls with your coach, and be able to be thrown out of the game.
                            8) Don't be able to hit batter after batter and not get ejected.
9)When you create a player be able to create a batting stance/ pitchers stance.
                            10) Get new announcers. I would personaly like if there would be a way to get harry kalas. but if not bring back john miller and joe morgan!
                            11) For walk off home runs/ or winning the world series, or big things like that at the end of the game.. get a better celebration.

Those are a couple of things that would make the game so much better. If i had to choose one of the above it would definatly be rookie mode.

This is simple. Create - A - Ballpark, relocation, rain delays, then copy all the options and features of All-Star Baseball 2005 but make it NEXT GEN!
