Loving this game!!
I know I am in the minority with this thought, but I own this game on my 360, and the Show on the PS3, and it's been a long time (release date) since I've played a Show game. I just simply find myself completely immersed in this game from the total control mechnisms. I know online there are issues as well as lag, but it is definitely not unplayable, your first step on the swing just must begin earlier, and then the hitting will be more consistent. League play is also a blast. I've won high scoring and low scoring games, and to me the hit variation in 2K8 is light years ahead of the Show....you can only take so many singles up the middle or to the opposite field.Tags: None -
Re: Loving this game!!
I'm not sure I'm to the point of loving it yet, but ever since I figured out how to hit I've started to really enjoy this game. I never play online, so the lag issue isn't a big deal to me. Assuming the patch fixes the framerate stuff I can see myself playing this game a long time.Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
I am loving this game too. I for some reason, am not experiencing the framerate issues most are complaining about. There are stutters sporatically throughout the game, but thats about it. The gameplay is great, and the graphics actually do look good. The Stadium Beats thing gives this game alot of life for me too.Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
I hated this game at first, couldn't pitch at all. After 2 weeks I got the hang of it and have kept the AI to under 6 runs a game. There is definetly a frame rate issue but, it's not overwhelming. Hopefully the patch takes care of that. I just can't play online because of the lag. It's completely unplayable online right now.Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
I wouldn't say I am in love, but I am certainly in like. If the framerate issue can be resolved, I could see myself spending a significant amount of time with it, as I really do enjoy the gameplay mechanics.Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
The online play has pushed me to the other side of love fellas. lol. I really only play online with baseball. Basketball I do franchise but baseball it's all about playing real people. And online just doesn't cut it for me. You have to start swinging before the ball even leaves his hand and pitching is hell. Everything comes out a meatball. I just can't take it right now so tomorrow it goes back to the store. Since I bought it used I'll get a full refund and wait for the patch to come and hear what people have to say about it then. Sorry but this year is a definite "wait" year for me. First time since MLB 2K4Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
I have the show for ps3, and when I first got 2k8, I was going to throw up. But now, after playing both games, 2K8 is my preferred game over The Show. Too Bad 2k had to make this game sooooo not pickup and play. Because I bet most ppl see the framerate issue and are ready to toss this game out. But if you fix the framerate, and then play, it plays a great game of baseball and is more fun imo than the show. The show is just really boring at times where you are more just watching animations than playing. Now with 2k8, I just even leave my VIP on since the framerate isn't bugging me anymore since I'm so immersed in the gameplay.Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
The pitching excuse of "meatball every time" is simply not true if you use the mechanic correctly, even online. You MUST hold your first gesture down until you feel it vibrate for the highest effectiveness..... It is true that when you do this your green circle will continue to get smaller, but when you do this correctly, you can throw strikes and get hitters out, and the homeruns are not as prevalent. In terms of swinging, if you are using the swing stick, it is also not true that you must "swing" before the ball leaves the pitchers hands. Even on fastballs, you do have time to step and swing, and if you are using classic style, you need to think of using the awesome mechanics that make this game fantastic!!Comment

Re: Loving this game!!
I'm extremely satisfied with this game. However I knew I would be after logging a lot of time with 2k7. The framerate issues don't bother me as they don't occur when I'm attempting to do anything in gameplay. Just during the cutscenes and postgame wrap up. I do have a high tolerance for video games. I can see why some would be upset, but a lot of it seems to be overreacting. My opinion is, if going in, you have ANY questions about whether you may or may not like a game, after reading previews, looking at video, or screenshots, reading impressions or reviews, it is best to RENT the game before spending your $60. If you have any concerns and you buy the game without renting or at least playing the demo, and then you feel your concerns were correct, no offense, but that's your dumb ***.XBL Gamertag

I too am in the very small minority. But, I can certainly see why people are pissed. It seems like an updated version of 2K7 but with a framerate glitch (I can't see), and an online lag (which is pretty annoying).
I agree with the above poster. Rent it before you buy.Comment
