    pitching: % of strikes

I seem to be one of the few people here enjoying ths game but I have a few questions.

    1. Is it just me or is there a lot of strikes thrown? I haven't seen this discussed anywhere and I don't know the real life strikes %. Is this odd or am I missing the boat. It seems to me that this is due to the fact that the strike zone is HUGE, by that I mean that anything that just nips an edge is called a strike. Is there a way to change this?

    2. Is there a way for me to view the pitches that have been thrown over the course of an at bat? Is there a way to bring up pitcher and batter stats during an at bat?

You have to have CPU IE ON if you want to see enough balls thrown. With it OFF, the pitcher will K you every time. And this is with all three throw strikes sliders at 0.

And today I lowered the CPU pitcher's strikeout and base on balls ratings down to 0 and played a couple of games, and the CPU pitcher pretty much walked every other batter. So that's another option if you feel you're still seeing too many strikes thrown - lowering those ratings for pitchers.

Slider adjustments -- That's basically the only way you will see a somewhat "realistic" amount of balls/walks.

I have AI use corner at 0, change speed at 25, throw strike overall at 0, throw strike ahead at 0, and throw strike behind at 50. I see a realistic amount of balls thrown, and have the ability to get walks w/ the sliders at these settings. However, I am sometimes a little too unpatient.

Bit easier if you use the wide cam IMO. And I have the zoom at 30% or so.

What about viewing the pitches that have been thrown? How do I do this?

              Re: pitching: % of strikes

One thing to be aware of is that a good majority of the balls the AI throws will come with two strikes. Im my experience, I'd say roughly 60-70% of the at-bats that begin 0-2 will be 2-2 if you keep your cool.

Another strategy is to not think in terms of balls and strikes at all, but rather in terms of pitches you want and pitches you don't. It does you no good to "worry" if a pitch is a strike or not; all you should care about is whether or not you can CRUSH it. Lay off pitches you can't crush, strike or not. You'll never draw walks (or balls, for that matter) if you're afraid to go down looking.

Edit: Oh, and, statistically, I generally see strike-percentages in the 60's from the AI. If that number creeps into the 70's, I'm not playing well. Simple as that.

The key is to not be afraid to take a strike. If the pitch isn't in your spot, don't swing just to make contact. You are trying to drive the ball, not hit a grounder to SS. I use the Wide Camera zoomed in a lot. And normally, in real life, a pitcher throws about 67% strikes. Any lower, they are throwing too much, and higher, they are throwing too many strikes and will likely get drilled soon (unless you are Greg Maddux).

There is no way to do this...That was an MVP thing, and not part of the 2K genre.

Is there a way to see the speed of the runners on base?
