I would highly recommend this work around if you are saving in the middle of a game during a franchise, especially with the freezing issues. Basically, create new franchise save instead of overwriting your old franchise. This way if your save is corrupted all you'll lose is the game you were in the middle of vs. the entire franchise like me. I figure I'd give you the heads up.

Be careful with in game saves
I was 50 games into my Cubs franchise when I saved a game against the Astros in the middle of the game. When I came back to the game later in the evening to resume, every time I loaded the save, my game would lock up. Basically, I lost my entire franchise because of an in game save. I was not happy. I had to start a new franchise and sim to the spot I was at (I didn't feel like playing those games all over).

Re: Be careful with in game saves
Nowhere near similar but thought I'd put it here. I was playing an exhibition game with the Blue Jays and Royals. Saved mid game. Came back later. Jays were wearing different uniforms. They were wearing their locked 1977 home unis. I went to check my VIP after the game and none of the my stats from the game were added to overall record. I lost the game but my record remained the same. -

I guess it's because I'm not nearly as bright as you. What possible good did your post just serve? In hindsight I would do what you're doing but I didn't. It is what it is, so just let it be.Comment

Re: Be careful with in game saves
I've had two instances where I saved an exhibition game and then the next time I went into the game to load it, my roster file (that I put MANY hours into changing almost every players stance and equipment) was gone...or at least when I loaded it, it was the default roster (prior to the update that came out the day of the game).
As you can guess I was pretty irritated. It's taken me about five hours to get somewhat close to where I was. Because of this, I won't start doing minor leaguer names and changes until after the 1.1 patch (not that it will necessarily help).
Now, I pretty much save a different roster file each time I make changes for each team.
I also saw the thing where the uni's changed after loading a saved game...Comment

Re: Be careful with in game saves
Had this happen in game 7 of the world series in my 40 game franchise. Saved during the 7th inning when I was up by 1 run. Boy was I pissed when I loaded it up later and found out the whole system freezes. Luckily I had a backup save on my memory card however that save was before I started the playoffs as I forgot to back it up so I had to play the entire playoffs again.Comment
