    Tight vs wide batting view...

Since I've starting playing to 2k8 I've used the tight view zoomed in about 25 clicks. Today I figured I'd give the wide view a shot (noticed it on SFG's sliders) zoomed in to about 75 clicks from 0. There was an incredible difference.

Typically, on tight I would swing pretty freely because most pitches looked close enough. However, on wide I found myself looking at more pitches and working the count. Also, the zoom difference made my at bats a more intimate experience. I watched more batter animations between pitches and felt my pulse starting to rise in certain situations.

So far for me, 2k8 has been all about the rewarding feelings of successful pitching and fielding. Now, I'm excited to say, I can't wait to get up to the plate and have the oppurtunity to rip an inside fastball down the line.

    Man, I'm lovin' this game.

All I ever play is WIDE ZOOM at about 30% on the slider. This gives me a nice sensation of depth so I can really feel the pitches coming down the pipe! I cant understand how anyone can play the default batting camera. It feels as if the pitcher is right on top of you and you get no sensation of velocity, trajectory or depth.

I only wish that I could also PITCH from this camera too because I like its view

hey thanks for that little insight.. i too damn near swing at every pitch.. i still hit the ball enough to have realistic hitting stats, but was having trouble really working the AI pitcher.. i'm gonna try the wide zoom tonight and see how it goes

to me wide Zoom is the only way to play the game....you see real depth and distance on pitches as well as get a better feel for different velocities. The pitches coming in have a greater sense of realism too. The default CAM makes the pitches look and feel very loopy and floaty.

Here's another great gameplay tip for more realistic 'under the glove' hit variety. Go into the Human and AI sliders for FIELDING ANTICIPATION and drop the Infield and Outfield slider all the way DOWN to 0...YES ZERO! Dont be afraid....just make sure you set the Outfield and Infield SPEED to MIDDLE to offset the zero anticipation, and enjoy the very nice variety of near misses and realistically toned down super plays. The fielders seem to play a more realistic game in the field without jumping on top of every hit ball...very nice. Try it and tell me what you see.

I use Dan's slider set with a bit of SFGiants slider set, and I did put the Reaction speed down to 0 for both, and let me tell you, it is 100% better. The OF just runs so much better.

Just gave the 0 reaction speeds a shot. Enjoyed the seeing-eye ball basehits and the dramatic effects in the outfield. However, I may toy with it a bit because I felt that some of the infield basehits could have at least been attempted at by the infielders.

The game I played with those settings at 0 there was still 4-5 diving stops made by the cpu...

Thanks for this! I had been fiddling between default and tight, and was having some issues. I switched to wide with zoom at about 60%, and WOW, what a difference. You can read pitches and locations so much better now. There is no chance I'll go back to another view after this!

With this batting view, the latest slider tweaks, and hopefully this upcoming patch, this is going to turn into a great baseball season on my 360.

Definitely wide for me at 75 clicks from zero as well. I take pitches even if they are close because I can actually tell that there is a possibility that it might just be a ball. Any other camera and I am 0 - 2 on every batter.

I've been using zoom at 30 clicks and doing fairly well but some of you are at 60-75 clicks so maybe I'll try that...
