free inside edge (sorta)
If you trade a batter to another team, then play that team, you get the batter's Inside Edge. I thought that was kinda cool. I believe it also works for pitchers.

Re: free inside edge (sorta)
I sent them Sabathia, Blake and Barfield for Cabrera
it freed up some money for me, and i was able to pick up a decent FA starter (Jason Jennings, who just pitched a 9 inning shutout against DET). I also moved some minor leaguers around between teams and got a decent reliever.
I needed another bat in my lineup. I had enough depth to be able to lose a 2B and RF, and when I saw the FA available I had no problem getting rid of CC.Comment

Re: free inside edge (sorta)
Thats a bad trade....C.C. is a CY Yound candiate for the coming years...coupled with Carmona u have a great 1-2 punch....Great pitching beats great hitting (see my Yankees getting bounced out the playoffs)....If u wanted to trade pitchers do so with the back end of your rotation and u couldve gotten a decnt bat...sure not Cabrebra but something decent....bad dealComment

Re: free inside edge (sorta)
I'd say you got hosed in that deal too, but it's your franchise to do what you want with....If I was a virtual fan in your franchise I would be calling the local sports radio shows asking for your head on a platter...
As far as IE goes...any player who was ever on your team you will have an IE report for. So if you don't resign them, or you trade them then you will have an IE report for them.
Here's one for you guys...
I need another top starter for my Phillies, and gotta move Adam Eaton due to GM goals wanting him released (so do I).
A deal I've found is Pat Burrell, Tom Gordon, and Adam Eaton for Ben Sheets and Tony Gwynn Jr.
Only problem is, when I first approached this trade (early May) the Brewers were 10.5 gms back of 1st place, and had like a .300 wpct. They've now gotten really hot and climbed w/in two games of .500, and are like 6 gms behind the Cubbies.
I don't want to make the trade if they maintain being in contention for a division title/wildcard (due to wanting to be "realistic"), but if they sink again around the deadline should I pull the trigger? Sheets is a FA after the season...(So is Burrell), so they'll get something in return if he doesn't sign...Albeit an old reliever, an inflated contract, and a possible FA who kills lefty's.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: free inside edge (sorta)
I dont think the brewers would give up their ace sheets in that deal even if they were not in contention. Maybe if it were for a couple high end prospects but not for older guys with bad contracts. The whole point for trading solid veteran players at the trade deadline for the most part is to rebuild and the only way to rebuild is to get young prospects. Thats just my opinion and i may be biased cuz i am a ben sheets fan. Plus i know its hard not to pull off a trade that gives you an ace. In my nationals dynasty i can trade dmitri young for john lackey straight up and its tough for me not to do.Comment

Re: free inside edge (sorta)
Keep Burrell and go after Sheets in free agency. That's what I did with the Phillies after Season 1. I locked him up to a $20.05 deal over eight years.
I reckon I'll be fired after Season 2, but Hamels-Sheets sure makes a nice looking 1-2 punch... even if it's for one year.Comment
