If you try to callup/send down a player, your entire roster vanishes.
I edited the Padres roster, and that's not accurate. Basically, the players below MLB level are all invisible until you go into the team's roster via the roster, lineups and rotation screens, rather than using the call-ups/send-down screen. But you can certainly make moves.
Just tried it out. It's a problem for sure, but you can bring up an AAA guy for example, then 'release' the MLB guy you want to send down, then re-sign him and place him on your AAA team. That works. Obviously not very practical in franchise mode (!), but my point is the comment that the 'roster vanishes', isn't accurate at all.

padres fans have known this all along. our main problem is that this makes franchise nearly impossible to play.
There is a fix and I posted it in the padres roster thread under rosters. You call up players then trade use the move to another team function and move the player to the AAA, AA, or A team. But you need to know the team names for the SD minor system because the list is in alphabetical order.

I know AAA was Portland.
I looked at that as one option. But it didn't seem you could trade a San Diego player to San Diego. San Diego wasn't on the list of the teams that would come up while scrolling through the teams you can trade with. Which of course makes sense.
But now you're saying you can trade a San Diego MLB player by scrolling through the various teams, and choosing one of San Diego's minor league affiliates to trade that player to?? Weird. I have to try this out.
No call the player up like normal but then to demote go to the move to another team option and hit RT or LT (RB or LB) whatever it is and select the correct minor league team.

Wow, that works, good fix! So how does this affect franchise? Can you just do that when you want to make roster moves, without having to worry about salaries and budget, etc?
