Re: Is this game worth it after the patch.
You know, I'm not going to muddle through all 90 posts, many of which seem to be off topic.
So, to answer the original question, the game IS worth it after the patch. But I thought is was worth it before as well.Comment

Re: Is this game worth it after the patch.
No. They do that crazy slowdown to time their arrival at the spot far too often. Personally, that doesn't bother me too much as long as the result of the play makes sense (i.e., the fact that they slowed down to make it a running catch versus a stationary catch means nothing; if they slowed down, then not got to it in time, there would be hell to pay).
After all I had read, from what I've experienced, this game has been surprisingly positive. The earlier comment that it's one patch away seems accurate. Bring in AI stolen bases, more balls thrown by AI pitchers, and (for me, at least) an easier way to keep my other fielders from running into my guy camped under a high pop-up/fly ball [My attempts to switch via LB (or is it RB?) to take control of that invading fielder usually ends up in a Bad News Bears outtake as the ball lands safely... HELP!] and the game would really play quite respectably between the lines.Comment

Re: Is this game worth it after the patch.
So after playing a couple of games after patch I will say that the game plays better. Every once in a while the game will stutter. BUT, it is much better. The post play and replays still chug along.
Ill try to answer my own question. Is this game worth it after the patch?
Yes & No. It depends on which system you have. I think its like which system do you buy to play online. PS3 is free which has ok online features but, if you want a true online experience get a 360.
This game is like that. If you have a 360 its ok. It plays a good game of baseball. Its not bad but, if you want a true baseball experience and have a PS3 get The Show.
I was in Best Buy today to pick up MLB 2k8 and they had The Show in the PS3. I played a couple of innings and fell in love. If I had a PS3 there would be NO question which game I would play. So I ended up leaving with 2k8.
BUT, I have a 360 and I will continue to play the game because I have to play a baseball game. Its a must that I play some sort of baseball game.
Anyway, if you have a 360 its worth it if you want to play a baseball game. Thanks mods for keeping it open. Im very intersted to see how this thread works out. Should be fun.
This game was worth it before the patch IMO but even more worth it after the patch. The pitching and fielding alone makes this the greatest game of baseball I have ever played. So after all of this conversion and you asking about whether it was worth it after the patch, your suggestion is to play the show? and after a few innings of playing in best buy. What was the point of this thread? Sounds like a set up to me. Unbelievable.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: Is this game worth it after the patch.
As somebody who currently has 2k8 rented (thus only a post-patch experience here), this is one of the few questions at this point I know I can answer accurately...

Re: Is this game worth it after the patch.
Well you certainly banged enough on Marlins for having his opinion.
I read this thread, and many others, and never saw anything that warranted Marlins removal from this forum.
I think that bkrich was just as deserving. Must be better friends with the mods around here eh?
With that said,
Thanks again to OP, I'm planning on picking up 2k8 although I would do anything to have a PS3 and be able to play their game. I had to read through alot of crap, but the answer is pretty clear: most people think the game is good enough to warrant the money and time, although no one I think would disagree that we are in dire need of competition in the 360 baseball arena.Last edited by pike; 04-13-2008, 09:55 PM.Comment

On that note, I sure hope a fix for framerate is found for the PS3 version. Game is a lot of fun to play, probably the best fielding mechanic of any baseball game ever, but the framerate hits, especially when attempting to hit is really starting to wreck the experience.Last edited by bkrich83; 04-13-2008, 11:10 PM.Comment

[And it's such an unusual addition, in my eyes, that I didn't even bother googling for this information.]Comment

Other than someone just repeating this game sucks over and over again, where exactly did I rag on someone for their opinions?Comment

It was in the game last year as well. Pretty cool, imo.Comment

Re: Is this game worth it after the patch.
I actually rented this game for the 360 after the patch came out, and I was surprised that it wasn't terrible like I thought it would be. My preference is still the competitor but I think anyone without a PS3 or designs on getting one would be pretty pleased with this game. More than anything though I wish both games were available to people with just 360's.Comment
