Hehe! Mark Loretta struck me out!

Playin the Astros (obviously). They pinch hit for the pitcher with Loretta. Inning ends and strangely he is on the mound. They never switched him. Getting all pissed that he is in there I swing at his really slow fastballs that aren't near the plate and low and behold, they yanked him after!

Either really smart AI that knew Loretta had the stuff to get my guy out or fluky weird thing that just accidentally happened. Not sure which, first time it happened to me ever.

Anyone else seen the abscence of a switch for pitcher after being pinch hit for?
My Friend Chris owns me in 2k8. Seriously, I suck.

Haha yeah this has happened to me once before. I was playing the Marlins who left in their left handed pinch hitter from the inning before to pitch to my left handed batter, and of course, struck me out. Then they pulled him right after.

Re: Hehe! Mark Loretta struck me out!

happened to me too where the CPU left Tony Clark in to pitch to the heart of the Phillies order...Highly doubt that this is somekind of strategy by the CPU as the CPU still had Hoffman and most of their bullpen to go after me with.

Just another stupid buggy part of this super buggy game.

When I get home I'm gonna post a picture I took last night of one of the funniest looking things I've even seen...I'll explain it right quick...

Phillies (ME) vs. Reds...The CPU is trying to SAC bunt...They make two unsuccessful attempts w/ the ball going foul each time. After the second unsuccessfull attempt my catcher had tried to make a play on the ball, running down the 3B line, but letting it roll foul. I quickly skipped through the cutscenes or whatever to get back to the mound to finish off the inning. I must've just been clicking too fast because the screen doesn't refresh w/ the catcher behind the plate. Instead he can be seen to the far right of the screen slowly side stepping in his crouch to get back in front of the plate. He then settles in about 5 ft or so in front of the plate...I said IN FRONT OF THE PLATE. It's freaking hilarious...I pitch the ball to him, and the pitcher tries to bunt again, but since the catcher is in front of him he can't make contact...because he never had a chance to...THE CATCHER IS IN FRONT OF HIM. Nevertheless, it's counted as a K, and the inning was over.

Re: Hehe! Mark Loretta struck me out!

Another thing I've seen is that the CPU puts in left handed players in positions where only right handed players should be. i.e. 3B, 2B, SS and catcher.

It's just funny to see a left handed 3rd baseman throw across the diamond to first base!!..lol and a left handed catcher throw out a runner at second!

It is no surprise to me that this is still in MLB2K8. I've been seeing the CPU do this since MLB 2K5 and they still haven't correct it. This is pure lazy programming if you ask me.

I question if the people programming this game are true baseball fans or have seen more then a few games on TV or been to a baseball game. I know it is not a big deal but when have you seen the catcher throw to first base on a strike-out for an around the horn? That's not how it is in real baseball but it is in MLB2K8!! The umpire's even look funny on how they do their gestures for outs and safe...Look at the first base umpire a few times.

Very very Dissapointed in 2K, I hope they recover from this nightmare of a baseball game, I really do.

That does actually happen in real life, I've seen catcher throw the ball to 1B for an around the horn. Usually they do that when it's the right hand batter, but with left hand batter.. to 3B.

Really!?...must be something new then. I've been watching and been going to pro baseball games (Yankee Stadium) lived near the stadium since I was a kid. I'm 46 years old! and I never seen the catcher throw to fist for an "around the horn"...never, didn't matter if the batter was right handed...the catcher always threw it to the 3rd baseman

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I would love to see an actual video of an MLB team doing this.

I guess I learned something new!! lol!

Yes, but you will *NEVER* see a left-handed shortstop at any level.

Gorsh, there's a Bronc Burnett book on this. "The Left-Handed Shortstop".
