Title Update, PS3 Patch Update & Roster Update - 4/16/2008

News from Ronnie:

The PS3 patch was rejected, and has since been fixed and sent back to Sony last week for approval. I don't know why it was rejected, so don't ask. It should be approved this time and should hopefully be up soon. (note soon is not an actual date, so please don't anyone make up their own date.

Not much different about the PS3 patch, except that it was re-submitted on Friday of last week. This patch does not address the framerate issue (that's still being investigated), but it does attack some different elements than the XBox patch. As for what those issues are, I do not know at this time.

Speaking of XBox patch, PR still hasn't released the patch notes yet, that is why you haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully, this will be released soon.

The title update for the online issues are still a few weeks off and have been slowed some by the devs having to working on fixing the PS3 patch and getting it re-submitted.

And finally, the roster update. 2K Sports received their roster list from the MLBPA last Friday. They are working on getting the changes made and should have something up real soon. I don't know if it will be this week though, next week looks more likely. The sooner the better, though, so I can finally start my franchise.

No kidding. The least they could do is give us some real information.

Which is why I moved on. When they get around to the (hopefully 2nd) framerate patch, I'll play the game again. Until then, I'll be playing The Show.

I don't have 2k8 for the PS3, but before the patch came out for the 360 version, I had the audio settings set to "on the field" and used "arial cam".These settings improved the framerate while fielding a bit.

You guys should give it a try.

Did that some time ago. Effect on FR was minimal. It's becoming more and more apparent that there probably is no framerate fix for the PS3. While I like the game, it's certainly not lived up to the bill of goods that was sold to us.

If the patch doesnt fix the framerate or stolen base issue what exactly is it fixing? Those are the two main issues

Yeah, that sucks for the PS3 owners...regardless of the fact that you all have another choice, this is completely inexcusable for 2K. If 2K can't patch it, they should be forced to offer refunds/credits and if not, personally, I would like to see some sort of legal action taken against them. In my opinion the video game company needs to be held accountable for their actions. Buyer-be-ware is fine and dandy, but the responsibility lies on both sides of the fence and when the development team flat out lies to the consumer, recourse should take place.


With that being said, I still don't understand why they haven't released an official list of what was patched on the 360 last Monday. Seems that once the patch was approved by Microsoft, this list should have been made available (which was likely a week or more before that)....it is as if 2K doesn't know what they fixed or just isn't confident with their fix, which doesn't suprise me either way.

2K is more than a joke. Look how the contradict themselves:

Ok, so the patch was resubmitted last week, but then he says they are working on it to get it re-submitted???

Good thing I got rid of the game, though at the loss of 20$...

I think he is saying the title update will be delayed because they had to work on the re-sbumission of the patch. I don't think he means they are still working on it, but because they had to spend extra time on it, it pushed the other updates back.

This proves 2K is still lacking in the tools and skill in the PS3 architecture. At least the MLB team.

Not sure what was wrong with the patch but if Sony denied it than that must mean it had technical errors. How could the 2K QA team not catch it before Sony? Or did they think they could release another half *** project.

Thank you for the update.. really wish they would get the roster update out before the weekend.

That's why I could care less about early release dates.. take more time with the game, release it when baseball season starts and then get your first roster update out after the first week.

I will say this... next year I just might have a ps3 and The Show if 2k keeps up with the way they handle things.

Meanwhile SCEA has released 4 roster updates and a patch in this same span of time for The Show.
