    Contract Extensions

This one has baffled me for the longest time. Why the hell can't we resign players in any year? It's not like a team can't extend one's contract.

For me this makes this game that much more unrealistic. When I am forced to sign a young star player in his last year, his demand has risen to a level where sometimes I can't do it. Like the Royals extended Joakim Soria's contract to where he gets decent money but is with the team through 2011, I believe. He is going to be a very good closer, if not starting pitcher someday, and his price might rise to the unrealistic standard that 2k puts contracts at.

Resigning with one year left is easy. Go to the Contracts/Free Agents section of the GM tab. Then go to contracts and you can click on anyone who has one year remaining. Then you just resign him to what ever terms you choose/he accepts.

That's not what I'm saying though. I'm saying we should be able to resign players when there are 3 or four years on their contracts. Not just when there is one.

It wont let me... In the potential FA list they have it lists Cabrera as a potential FA, but when i have tried to re-sign him it says "you can only re-sign a player whos in the last year" or something like that

potential FA = 2 years left its to let you know future FA not next year free agents

not sure if baseball is the same as other sports but in most sports contracts can only be extended in the final year

but its funny cause if you extend the contract in the final year for more or less then the contract is currently worth it automaticly makes that year = the new contract so you either end up paying more that year or less both of which is stupid they should make contacts more like nba 2k where you can give them raises over time by % just dont limit the % amount and dont over ride the current contract

All i can say is this resigning a player is fing crazy in this game. I dont get this game sometimes why is a player who is past his prime and his overall is like say a 80 but is asking for 15 millions dollars per year contract wtf is up with that. Man im still not use to baseball contract in this game. Because its 18 times harder to resign a player in baseball than in basketball or football. Look at fA and you will find so many superstar pitchers but no way in hell you can sign them and batters sometimes. And they stay there in FA for 2 years or more before somebody signing them.
