    WSB Fixes

I know there is already a topic but that was add-ons, this is what they need to fix to WSB for next year, and also a few add-ons. Well here it is:

This is what they need to FIX- Batting A.I., collision, being able to release players in Franchise Mode, different season each year in franchise mode, be able to control more than 1 team on franchise mode, jump button, warm-up pitchers, more than 1 user controller on a team, MLB size Strike Zone, MLB realism of wild throws and injuries, faster player motions, better check-swing system (like High Heats) and Practice Mode.

Add-on- Player and coach ejections, Coach fight bad calls, behind-the-pitcher camera view, lots more camera views, weight realistic to real life, more stuff that I cant think of right now, please list if you know more. Thanks.

      Re: WSB Fixes

      Re: WSB Fixes

I agree, WSB is my favorite baseball game (it's the only one I've ever actually liked), and there is definitely plenty of room for improvement. Maybe for lists like this, though, some more explanation could be used? Granted, some things are self-explanatory, but if a developer looks over the forum, they'd probably just see it as a bitch list. However, if reasons were given as to why these things needed to be/should be fixed/added in, the list might be looked at with some more seriousness. It's just a guess, but I knew if I was responsible for making a game and was taking player input, I would want to know why the player thought these things would make the game better.

That's not to criticize the list though. I agree with a good number of the things on it. This is what I would add:

*Ability to not hold runners to a base. There's no reason I should have my first baseman holding Mo Vaughn on first when he'd be better suited filling in part of the gap between first and second base. Lots of balls that can usually be stopped by a baseman get missed when the player is holding the runner (this is most notable with first, but applies to all bases).

*Quicker, double play specific animations. This is adding to "faster player motions" above. I find turning double plays to be much harder than they should be, as there's no way to do a quick throw from second to first or anything of the sort.

*More stats in Franchise/Season modes. Obviously not a necessity, but I'd really like to see some added stats like number of multi-hit games, multi-homerun games, and add some streak/drought stats like hitting streaks, scoreless innings, games without a home run, etc.

*Pitching training camp. Again, adding to the "Practice Mode" listed above. I think too many casual players would be confused by the pitches and how to use them, and why they should use anything but a fastball. Having a pitching tutorial could teach players what the different pitches do, and when/how they should be used. Having Krukow narrate it would be pretty sweet as well.

*More commentary. Not necessarily played more often, as I think the frequency is good, but I'd like to hear more variations in the commentary.

Well, that's what I can think of right now. I'm sure there's more, but I'd love to see what other people think as well...

          Re: WSB Fixes

          Ok, Now i'll explain.

Batting A.I-sometimes it is dumb to be beating them horribly even with a bad pitcher, people like hard games over easy.

collision- makes the game look like real life.

being able to release players in Franchise Mode-people usually compare maddens to everyone elses and this doesnt have it, it is a big dissapointment.

different season each year in franchise mode-like said above

be able to control more than 1 team on franchise mode-cause i have more than 1 team i like

jump button- in real life can u jump? yes. is your point in a sports game to make it realistic? yes.
warm-up pitchers- so it can compete with all-star even more

more than 1 user controller on a team- like said above, this is a huge whole cause it is sometimes not fun to compete with your friend.
MLB size Strike Zone- so it is realistic, some picthes thrown and called strikes are just absurd.
MLB realism of wild throws and injuries- not ever playing a game and having someone get injured during it is un-realistic

faster player motions- now you dont want to have the speed of Tp, do you?

better check-swing system (like High Heats)- again, realisitc

and Practice Mode- this is also important because sometimes you might lose your touch and then you can practice pitching, batting and fielding.

Player and coach ejections- it happens in high heat and it happens in real life.
Coach fight bad calls- come on, you just gonna stand there after a bad call?
behind-the-pitcher camera view- so it is like watching ESPN
lots more camera views- the more the variety the better. ( the selection high heat had)
weight realistic to real life- mo vaughn looking like aaron boone? come on, that is sad.

Well I exlplained them all. Hopefully they will listen to what I said, thanks.

            Re: WSB Fixes

            My improvements would be

            1. Make the strike zone just a little bit smaller, almost every pitch is a freekin strike even though it's like right under your chin, that would aslo help increase the base on balls stat.

            2. Take the power away from the pitchers, I don't want to be able to jack a homerun with a pitcher just because I lined up the cursor, even if a pitcher hits it right on the good part of the bat in the MLB he still doesn't get a homerun (unless your pitcher is Mike Hampton)

            3. Keep career Statistics

            4. Animate the stadiums like the Apple at Shea, etc is this really a major thing to accomplish to make the apple go up when there's a homerun?

            5. CPU hitting should be a little better, but not to the point where WSB 2k2 was like with massive CPU Assistance

              Re: WSB Fixes

              1. Double plays are too hard to turn
              2. You should be able to leap at the wall and bring a HR back.
              3. Homeruns need to be done better. I'm not sure how exactly, but on the replay, you can barely see the ball leaving the yard. Maybe another angle of the ball leaving the stadium.
              4. Strike zone is too big, hardly ever any walks and your starting pitcher hardly ever reaches 100 pitches for the game.
              5. Balls that seem well hit get caught too easily in the outfield and up the middle. Balls that would drop in for a hit in MLB will be out on the game.
              6. Allow trading of minor league players between team in your franchise.
              7. Add a baseball draft. (If there already is one, I don't know b/c I haven't finished a season yet)

                Re: WSB Fixes

There is a draft at the end of a season, and you can trade your minor league players. They show up on your trade roster just like the regular players.

But I wanted to especially back-up the "too many balls caught" point. I think what I find aggrivating is that the running basket catches (that always seem to trigger the commentary "And on the dead run, he makes the catch!") never seem to be missed or dropped. I'd honestly prefer to see catches like that get dropped around half the time, although by the same token the person who drops it shouldn't be surprised (i.e., they shouldn't stand around confused like when other guys commit errors).

Just a couple more pennies tossed to the mix...

Have 2 players be able to play on the same team, like in ASB. Hell, have 4 players be able to play on the same team. AND let the users EASILY pick who controls what.

                    Re: WSB Fixes

Have you guys ever noticed this glitch? I am tired of it and I thought it was only a mess up on one or two calls. But now its happened to me numerous times.

I will be pitching and the batter smokes one down the first base line, Martinez makes the grab but whats this, its CLEARLY a fair ball yet they call it a foul. Have you guys seen this? It happens to me on occasion and it gets old especially in a tight game.

I really can't think of anything you guys haven't already covered.

                    Maybe players getting dirty

Make the players look more realistic. I was playin the Brewers and Vina gets a hit and it shows the cut scene where he is standing next to Richie Sexson, 6' 7", and he is the same height...I mean what is Vina...5' 4". That needs to be fixed.

CPU players need to make more dives in the infield.

Make the infield bigger or the players smaller. Seems to easy to get to some balls.

Totally re-do the Create-A-Player, not near enough options.

                    Make a Create-A-Team option.

Track attendance and show it in the stadium when playing.

Collision detection on bannisters and seats and all that good stuff as in ASB.

Player ejections, arguements, pitcher warm-up, injuries when playing. I could go on but I am not sure what has been covered.

I loved WSB this year...but it can be alot better.

Here's one. I was trying to make a deal with Dante Bichette,( I know I know but I'm the Pirates ok?) and he kept saying "no" until finally re refused to deal with me at all. OK, fine, I get Conseco instead, next thing I kow there's Dante in my lineup commanding 35 BP !?!?!? He never even agreed to talk to me and refused all my offers but there he is in the clubhouse and I can't get his lard-butt out! What up?

                          Re: WSB Fixes

                          Definitely sounds like a bug...

Since we're listing glitches, I might as well say one that's been bothering me. Pedro Martinez - because of his windup - can never cover first base in time to get an out. He has this animation, after he throws the ball, where he steps forward and watches home plate. Problem is, he does this even when the ball is hit. If you have your first baseman make a diving stop, Pedro is one of the only pitchers I've seen that can NOT make it to the bag in time to get the runner out (he's usually about half way), so the runner is pretty much always safe despite the stop.

Just a minor grievance with an otherwise fantastic game
