I stayed far away from this game after last year's installment, but not because of gameplay issues, I actually had a lot of fun with the game but the main issue for me was the franchise mode. It had that thing it would do where the CPU would trade guys like Derek Jeter after week 1. It would also optimize every team's lineups after injuries, trades and call-ups and would have guys like Cliff Floyd and Derrek Lee batting leadoff. I just need to know if this year's game has fixed these issues. I do not play online so any problems there wouldn't apply to me. I just want a game I can play as the season winds down, but not if it hasn't fixed the franchise mode issues.
I just have a couple of questions regarding this game

I just have a couple of questions regarding this game
Sorry if this has been asked already but my searches would only show topics regarding last year's game.

Re: I just have a couple of questions regarding this game
In 2k8, if you have "force trades" on, you can undo any trade that you feel is unrealistic...Thats what I do, but I haven't had to undo a whole lot, cause most trades have been realistic.Or you can set it so that the A.I can't trade anyone with a rating over 80.You can even set it so there are no trades allowed.
The bogus A.I lineups are completely gone, cause you can set the A.I's lineup before the game starts. The only weird thing I've seen the A.I do with their lineups, was have an outfielder play second base, while their everyday second baseman had a day off.I forgot to set the A.I's lineup, so I had to play through a game with the A.I second baseman playing horrible defense. But, most of the time, the A.I lineups are fine, and need no changes.
The A.I has some depth issues(some teams have too many outfielders on their bench with maybe one infielder), and they also take too long to bring up their top prospects.I'm heading into August and the Rays still haven't brought up Evan Longoria, even though the dude is raking in AAA.Same thing with the Reds and Jay Bruce.Last edited by HK-47; 08-28-2008, 07:38 PM. -
Re: I just have a couple of questions regarding this game
Thanks for the answer. Those issues really killed franchise mode for me last year so I'm glad to see they've been fixed or that they at least have better work-arounds. I don't think CPU call-ups will be that big of a problem for me because I could just add the guys before starting the season, but in any case it's only 40 bucks now so I wouldn't be giving up a lot.Comment
