    Installed to 360 hard drive

Just curious, but has anyone else installed MLB 2K8 to their hard drive with the new 360 xbox experience? I downloaded it today, and then copied the game to the HD. While it might be simply a placebo, it did seem to play a little smoother. I noticed it on throws from the outfield or on throws across the infield, that it at least seemed to be smoother. But I only played a couple of quick innings before I had to leave for work, so I didn't get to see a whole lot of it. One area where it really used to chug for me was when there were at least two runners on base, with one of them on second. I didn't get that far, but I think that will be a good test.

What was weird was not hearing the constant chain-saw sounds coming from the DVD drive, as even though the game has to be in the drive to play it, it doesn't even attempt to access the disc during gameplay.

I'd be curious to see if others have tried this yet?

Various reports claim the game runs much more smoother when playing off the HDD then the Disc itself. So you may not be seeing a placebo effect. Post from a member over @ TXB:

Game seems to me to be a bit crisper than running on the disk.. Some little stutters are there, but the stutters on throws have been toned down a lot if you play it off the HD

While I can only speak for MLB2k8, it does look much more crisp imo and the studdering is very minimal. Also, I turned back on the cut scenes and highlights and they worked great! go figure!

I wonder if Madden & NHL2k9 looks or plays any better?

I am going to try this when I get a bigger HD. I can't even play the game for very long now without it freezing. This is on a fixed XBOX sent back from Microsoft. I have no trouble with any other games but MLB 2K8. Hopefully HD Install will take care of the problems.

question, I have to be missing something here, you can store games now to youre 360? couldnt u just rent a bunch of games and save them without actually buying them? I had a modded original xbox that did that.
im sure this isnt the case but how would they get around it, i dont understand mainly cuz i dont have a 360 anymore but yeah so how does this work? lol

The new dash update allows you to install games to your HD now. You still need the disk to start the game, but it doesn't "spin" in the tray like it would normally.

oooh ok so u still need the disc, not a bad idea, im sure some hackers will work around it. but at least its not as wide spread as i was assuming

One thing I read was to go into settings in the front-end and turn off the disk auto-play feature every time you put a disk in the drive. That way, you can put in the game in the drive, but it won't start up. You still launch the game off the hard drive, and it will run without hitting the disk.

I tried another game today, and this time got much deeper into it. There was still some choppiness with 2 or more runners on base, especially whenever a runner was on 2nd, but I have to say overall it is slightly smoother. Where I noticed it was when either pitching or hitting without any runners on. Not perfect, and maybe it's not technically THAT much better, but I think it's noticeable.

Nope. I just tried that same thing with my friends Choops 2k8 and you have to have the disk in.

Ok I cleared enough space to install the game, however it stalls at 49% and says the disc is dirty? What do you all think I should do? Boil the disc?
