Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
Well after playing the PS3 demo of 2K8 I actually felt sorry for 360 baseball fans. The biggest problem is that there is so much worng with the game that really shouldn't be a problem at all on these super gaming machines. They cant even get the sound of the ball hitting the bat right! The crowd sounds awful and the commentary is boring even though they have the best announcers in baseball. They better have there hands full if gamers are going to be able to play through 162 games!Comment

I do not know what to expect or what level of confidence I have in this upcoming version. If they can get back to the core elements of the game of baseball we should be at least going in the right direction.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
Im with Tomba on this one I feel better knowing Brinkmans not involved, as for the EA/2k thing I hear you 2k team is to blame but at the same time the EA TEAM is thank for there games not Ben Brinkman. However Brinkman was really put on the spot to help mold the 2k franchise and took it on with open arms and failed miserably. He wouldnt be so criticized if he didnt say half the things he promised people.
but just my opinonBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
I have absolutely no confidence in 2K9. I loved 2K7, I played that game to death. But last year I was never even able to complete a full 9 inning game in 2K8. The fact that I was also enjoying The Show so much had a little to do with me not playing 2K8 very much, but still. I mostly didnt play it because it was so terrible. The framerate studdering, the stupid meatball junk, the "cool new" pitching with the sticks gimmick, the hitting, the announcing, the horrendous presentation, ugh. It was terrible. How they went from a very solid 2K7 to total garbage boggles the mind.
I'll give 2K9 a rent this year, but I certainly won't buy it unless it's, not just an improvement on the horrendously bad 2K8, but also better than 2K7 as well.Comment

I would love to be blown away by this game as I really do need a "winter ball" game (as I only play The Show for a season and then need something else until spring).
I think the first video releases will be the decider for guys here. I think we'll be able to decide if the game has, in fact, taken some steps forward, or not.Comment

Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
I went back and played a game of MVP NCAA 2006 over the weekend. It breaks my heart that EA stopped making baseball games when I go back and remember how great that hitting mechanic is. I sure hope 2K9 is fantastic, and I love the optimism, but I'm still extremely cautious.Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
Yep! While the premise (back and forward on the stick) is the same, the responsiveness of the system on the first NCAA game (the only one I played) is unparalleled. Instead of the forward motion just kick starting the bat, they pretty much moved together. Check swings were perfect and you had control over whether you did or did not check your swing, instead of the flat out randomness of 2K8. Everything was just mapped so much better, there was a total sense of control with the bat.Comment

Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
6th xbox??? wow kudoo's to you for hanging in there, youre crazy for not dropping the 360 along time ago. I reccomend changing sides, wether or not 2k is any good, thats just nuts. I dont want to start a war or derail the thread, just I gave up after mine died once I couldnt imagine 6! and still being with it.
I agree. My Xbox360 died after only 2 months. Microsoft fixed it for free, but I vowed if it went down again I'd not replace it. My PS3 has run problem free for over a year, and I use it much more than the 360. I'll never purchase an Xbox again.Comment

Re: I have a lot of confidence in this game.
This thread kind of reminds me of the eternal optimism that fans of every team have during Spring Training. Hell, even Kansas City Royals fans have a reason to believe that they could have a good team this year. Then, the games start, and you know how that turns out...
I really, really hope that 2K9 will be a realistic, fun, FLUID game of baseball - but after the last couple of years, I really have my doubts. Even if VC is taking over things this year, it's really hard to polish a turd.
Right now I'm heavily debating getting a PS3 just for that other game, but I'm hoping that when the early previews of 2K9 come out, I will stop thinking that way.Comment
