    Re: Why no updates?

We know 3 things about this game so far. 2 which IMO are very important:

    1. New Development Team- Visual Concepts is 1 of the Top Sports Gaming Developers in the business.

    2. New Pitching Mechanic- Though we have no real information about this yet, for many this is great news. Many people hated the Total Control Pitching mechanic. I personally liked it.

I'm pretty sure we'll see stuff starting to hit the airwaves soon. so be patient people

Yep, look, here is 2k's first screw up. The pitching system I thought was awesome. I thought it was the only good thing about 2k8. It was probably the only thing that kept me putting the disc in the tray for the month I played it. I think they just need to perfect it. Maybe pick the pitch with a face button first, then execute the motion. But this whole new pitching mechanic is just wasting the valuable time needed where it could be put into perfecting the game play. I'll guarantee the new pitching mechanic will be worse or even boring.

^^^^ completely agree. I LOVED the pitching mechanic (minus the annoyances of meatballs / some of the motions + higher difficulty settings).

2K is having a hard time in the commitment department with regards to the pitching. It seems like if they have an idea they should really stick with it and improve it until its near perfect.

Same goes for analog batting as well. Sure it isn't perfect, but it is a huge leap forward (imo) than hitting a for a contact swing and b for a power swing.

          Re: Why no updates?

I liked the new pitching interface but the 88 mph meatballs and the poor ball physics (slider down and away? Adam Kennedy's taking that thing 500 feet!) really dragged it down for me.

I think VC realizes that the already small fan base for this game is rapidly dwindling and that they have to make it work on the field this year. I'm expecting tighter gameplay in all aspects with minor touch-ups to things like graphics, franchise mode and online.

There's a glimmer of hope for the people who did like 2k8's pitching (including me). It's the fact that when VC took over the NHL franchise, they created a new control scheme but also had the ability to switch back to the right stick control.

              Re: Why no updates?

Well, if you really look at history I seem to remember that 2k was boasting up their game big time last year on these very boards, saying how it was a vast improvement over 2k7. People started to get worried when no demo dropped before the release date and when the game hit we all saw why. It was a buggy and unplayable mess, at which point 2k was suddenly no where to be found. So who knows, maybe silence is golden. Wishful thinking anyway.

The 2k games default control schemes and button configurations have never felt right not me, in any of their titles. I feel like I'm all thumbs when I play a 2k game. Maybe my brain is just conditioned to feel comfortable with the typical default EA button scheme who knows....but it's always turned me off of 2k games, I've bought a ton of 2k games over the years but have never really felt totally comfortable playing them. Hockey felt really weird for some reason. It's almost like if you were to play a first person shooter and tried to control your aim with the controls inverted when you're not used to it.
