    Anyone else have this problem?

I am trying to update a roster for 2k7 and it keeps saying the file is corrupt, and it cant find a hard drive, even though all my other game saves are fine. Any ideas on what is causing this. Thanks in advance

It's been a while since I've messed with 2K7, but file corruption was a fairly common issue with the game. The big thing was franchise files (due to scheduling issues in season in many cases).

Anyway, yes it is a problem 2K7 had at times. I had it happen to me with my VIP and 2 franchise files when I was playing it. Unfortunately, I believe you just have to kiss that file goodbye.

So is it even worth it, I mean, did it actually damage 2 of your franchise files? Just wondering, I found this game about a week ago and was surprised by how fun it was. After reading reviews I wasn't going to buy it, but ended up liking numerous things about it. 2k8 on the other hand was a step down IMO. So in your opinion is it a waste of time to edit the rosters in order for me to play a season or two. Also do you know where I can find some updated rosters for 2k7? thanks Josh

Well, I tried looking around for you but this is the most up-to-date I could find for the 360:

It's from October 2007, So you'd have a couple offseasons to work through and manually update.

Is it worth it? Tough to say. Here's what I can tell you about franchise to make it playable (meaning no freeze, and risk control for corrpution).

The main issue with franchise freezes and corruption had to do with a calendar issue in the game and it causing the franchise to freeze upon entry into the postseason.

If you play with a west coast team you should be fine most often. Why? Because the game would not progress to the postseason if there were games remaining on the schedule after the one your team played. The west coast teams play last on the day's schedule and using one reduces the chances of that freeze happening to you. The freeze occurs because the game doesn't recognize the gap between the last day of the regular season and the postseason.

Another way to bypass this is to, either through luck or by manipulation, have a tiebreaker needed in a division. What saved me (and helped me find out how to work around this glitch) is the NL central had a tie going into the last day. I was able to save my franchise by resimming and manipulating the results so that both teams stayed tied, forcing a tiebreaker.

The tiebreaker forced an extra day in the season's schedule, allowing the western teams to finish up and everyone getting to complete their 162 games minimum. the good news is, that only seemed to be an issue in season 1. Once you got past that, it seemed to be fine (maybe it was an issue in the coding for the "real" season schedule? I dunno).

If it sounds confusing, well, welcome to 2K baseball...lol. Also, that doesn't take into account basic file corruption, which (as I mentioned in my last post) happens with this game. The only tip is really to save often and keep mulitple files for each save.

For example, I had 3 roster files (all the same-one on a memory card), 2 VIPs (one on the HDD, one on the memory card), and a ton of franchise saves. I would have a save dedicated to every month in the season as "restore points" and then keep 2-3 running saves as well. As the season drew to an end, my "restore points" became more frequent (about 1 per week in the last month).

So, again is it worth it? Depends on how much you like the game. Me, I would just play around with it for a couple months and hope 2K9 delivers a playable baseball game. It was a fun game, but had some frustrating (as I'm sure you've gathered) issues.

It's a lot of stuff, but I hope it helps

BTW...on a side note, I'm digging your NFL 2K5 rosters...currently playing a Texans franchise with them

Thanks alot, that's the kind info I was looking for. This game to me is very fun and addicting. I already started the multiple saves thing on my rosters. Me and buddy will be using LA, and SF so hopefully that helps as well. Hope you enjoy the NFL rosters, and thanks again for all the info.

Re: Anyone else have this problem?

I had this same problem and there is a solution: if you download the free extra stadium, it actually has a patch built into it as well that helps resolve this issue........it would be nice if 2K told you that in the stadium description, but the info is on 2K's forum, I'll see if I can dig up a link.

              EDIT:

              Yep, here it is:

Hi All – First I want to thank everybody who emailed us with reproduction steps for this issue. We got some good feedback and were able to reproduce the issue and determine a fix for it. The fix is simple: download the FREE Olympic Stadium. We tested the hell out of this all afternoon and it appears solid.

I want to apologize again for the inconvenience this caused. We released the update to make the game better, but it had quite the opposite effect…that’s pretty frustrating.

Anyway, thanks again for your help with this and your continued support of the MLB2K franchise. Keep the great feedback and support coming!

Have a safe and happy Independence Day,

              Kush Games Development Team

Ahh, yes. forgot about that. Not sure if it actually works though. It was never really proven. People had questions (and many still had the issue) but 2K reps disappeared on the issue afterwards.

Still, it doesn't hurt to download it. Good reminder, thanks

Yeah, knowing 2K, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it didn't completely fix the issue, but I know it does help. It's been awhile since I played 2K7, but I remember before downloading that I could only edit about 3-4 players before I would get the corrupt message, but afterwards I was able to edit a whole team without any trouble.

Oh...gotcha. I was talking about the franchise freeze mainly. I (fortunately) never ran into the editing issue. You're right about that. The franchise issue and the file corruption were separate I believe.

Wow, that game sure was a wreck of bugs...lol. Never really thought about it too much at the time. It was fun though...as odd as that may sound, given the issues...lol

Hey thanks alot, I did download this already and have had about a week without any problems. For me to put the two together would have been tough. Thanks for the info, for me It has worked so far, no corruption in my files. Also I haven't seen any freezing either. I have only played about 15 exhibition games but simmed about 10 seasons not playing any. I use the sims as a guide after I finish a teams roster. Was the freezing mentiod above soley when playing games in a franchise?
