This is what I would love to hear form VC about MLB 2k9....

If you thought MLB the Show looks good, then take a look at our first set of screen shots!
Will that happen? I doubt it very highly as that game is looking amazing. I only have a 360 and will not buy a PS3 for one game no matter how good it might be.

I know gameplay improvements are the most important but I think it's that graphics that will spark your interest to see if the gameplay is any good. If VC is smart (we all know they are very talented) then we should see some real purdy looking stadiums & player model just like the show has.

I can't see their game selling even 100k copies if it doesn't first look great. Do you agree?

No, just like last year, the game will outsell The Show, and probably by a margin of 3 to 1. There are too many 360 gamers who will pick it up, regardless of the quality, simply because it's the only game for their system.

I don't have an issue with the graphics. Overall, it's been a better-looking game than The Show up until now, although this year might be different. They have to work on the gameplay primarily, along with the animations and presentation, and get all that happening. That's what's killing this series right now. The graphics are already there.

Funny thing is I never had a framerate issue last year. I have a CRT television, and I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it? There was a bit of slowdown during the pre-game intro and some cutscenes, but that was it. The gameplay was always very smooth.

2k8 didnt outsell the show last year just so you know. The show edged out 2k last year in sales, someone posted the official numbers adding up all the sales from each console. The show being on PSP PS2 and 3 out numbered 2k being on all systems

However I see where youre coming from and even if 2k were a decent game not horrid like last year it will outsell the show

Yes that is the reason. It runs real smooth on those sets. When I turn it to standard on my TV it didn't look as good, but it ran better.

                    Because of the lower resolution.

You know, I saw some sales numbers a few months after the games came out, and I swear 2K8 was outselling MLB 08 by 200,000 units at that point.

My comment had to do with the fact that given the head start Microsoft had, there are millions more 360 consoles out there than there are PS3 consoles. It just makes sense that games on the 360 are going to outsell games on the PS3, at least for another year or two until Sony catches up.

Good to know. Yeah, I'm not buying an HDTV until the prices come down on the 120hz refresh rate TV's. I don't have a television signal in my home -- I just use my TV for gaming and DVD's -- so I'm in no rush to get an HDTV right now.

Actually, the numbers are as follows:

                          MLB 08 The Show:

                          PS3 - 560,000
                          PS2 - 310,000
                          PSP - 260,000
                          Total: 1,130,000

                          MLB 2K8:

                          360 - 670,000
                          PS3 - 230,000
                          Wii - 80,000
                          PSP - 20,000
                          PS2 - 50,000
                          Total: 1,050,000

So, yes, if you look at PS3 vs. Xbox 360 numbers, the Xbox 360 sold about 340K more... Overall, The Show sold 120K more, across all platforms. One other thing to point out is that The Show 08 was only available on three systems, while 2K8 was on five. Honestly, I think the PS3 numbers for 2K9 to be half of what they were last year, even with the larger install base.

2K, IMO has not been the best developers for PS3. They finally got rumble in latest PS3 games, but the textures are sub-par (looking at NBA2K9 courts), and worse than the 360 version.

Any game that does have the CPU stealing bases or employing Hit & Run strategy is not a realistic game...period. Regardless of how well the textures and graphics look. Shame on 2K for missing this basic strategy oversite!
